Dead Cells Home Arcade Console Unveiled At CES With 2022 Release

  • January 6, 2022
  • Seb Santabarbara

There’s always a surprise or three unveiled at the legendary Consumer Electronics Show, and the news of a Dead Cells home arcade console dropping from iiRcade has us grinning from ear to ear.

Hold up; what’s iiRcade, I hear you all asking. Don’t worry, I’m getting to it.

For starters, iiRcade is more of a who than a what. They make state of the art arcade cabinets for us to display and use in our homes, with each cabinet’s design centring around a different game.

Today at the CES, iiRacade has dropped a premium version of their cabinets and a new model focusing on the epic Dead Cells.

That’s right; premium.

You see, previous iiRcade unites have had standard speakers facing the front. The Dead Cells edition, however, uses sneaky speaker placement to hide them from sight. It also comes equipped with powerful JBL speakers, something that iiRcade claim is a first for any device in the gaming world.

This Dead Cells unit is also set to come with a taller cabinet frame than other iiRcade models, coming in at a total height of 64″.

That’s 5.33 feet for anyone interested…

Dead Cells Home Console Cabinet Design

A Closer Look at the iiRcade Dead Cells Cabinet

Just check out that artwork and tell me you wouldn’t like one of these in your games room? Heck, I’d move my fridge and stick one in the kitchen!

The design on this home console is pretty impressive. It’s all made up from hand-drawn original artwork based on the Dead Cells game itself and by the original artist too.

Let’s not get too carried away with what’s going on on the outside though; don’t forget this is a Retro Gaming website and not an art critique forum.

There are 11 games stored inside this exciting unit for gamers to sink their teeth into –

  • Beach Buggy Racing
  • Bombsquad (Online Multiplayer)
  • Diver Boy
  • Double Dragon
  • Dragon’s Lair
  • Dragon Master
  • Fancy World
  • Gunbird
  • Maniac Square
  • Snowboard Championship
  • Twin Brats

Yes, you read that right. There’s an online multiplayer tucked away in this cabinet too.

Dead Cells isn’t on the console though, just in case you wondering…

Still, this disappointing pause gives me chance to move onto iiRcade’s plans for online gaming in 2022. They’re working on an online platform that will allow all budding arcade gamers to play games both new and old with each other all over the world.

Did you imagine this would ever be happening when you were queueing to play Streets of Rage in the arcade back in the day?

How Much Will The Dead Cells Home Console Cost?

We know that pre-orders are starting this Spring over at iiRcade.com, but a price has yet to be released for this new premium cabinet range.

With prices of consoles on the iiRcade website coming in at around $400-600, I can imagine this new home unit range easily pushing upwards of $850, if not more.

Only time will tell, so make sure to keep checking back for more information as and when we get it.
