It was only a matter of time before Argonaut Games released another cult classic from their arsenal. On our podcast with the Argonaut team, they did mention more games were coming after the Croc remaster, and seeing as their social teased the Bee's return, I had no doubts this would eventually come to fruition.

Today, Buck Bumble has been announced as a part of ModRetro's list of launch games for the upcoming M64 console, a remake of the classic Nintendo 64 with a boatload of modern features. ModRetro has lifted the lid on all of its new consoles' information, such as release dates, pricing, features and thankfully for Argonaut fans, the full list of launch titles that will be available with the console's official release on the 28th July 2026, including Buck Bumble.

This is not a remake, or a remaster, more like a refresh, similar to what Argonaut Games did with ModRetro last year with the Croc games for GAME BOY. It simply adds some modern features, alongside a new physical box, a manual and a bright yellow Nintendo 64 cartridge that can be used on your ModRetro M64, Analogue 3D and your original Nintendo 64 console.

We do have a new game from ModRetro, known as extreme-G Turbo Fusion, which gives us a look at the box quality, the physical coloured instruction manual and a look at a new transparent colour cartridge. I must say it's all great quality. The box itself is a similar size and thickness to a class VHS tape, and the contents sit inside of what I believe is a recyclable paper tray, not plastic.

You can take a look at the new Buck Bumble on Nintendo 64 by visiting ModRetro's official website.
