Whenever we talk about racing game series, Need for Speed is always at the top of the list. I used to play these games with my Dad when I was younger, modding our cars and heading out on the track in iconic vehicles to burn rubber for hours on end. It’s hard to believe that on December 13th it will have been 30 years since the first game dropped on the 3DO, and BMW is celebrating the game’s anniversary by making one of our favourite cars a reality.
It’s safe to say that of all the NFS games, Most Wanted was the one I played the most, and BMW has recreated the M3 GTR from the front cover. Plus, it’s available to look at in person in Munich at the BMW Welt showroom from November 27th – January 6th! It’s the ultimate petrolhead pilgrimage!
Just take a look at this beauty! The M3 GTR has become a firm favourite in the series, and the closest I ever thought I would get to it was through the game itself. We had Most Wanted on the GameCube and the Xbox back in the day, and I can remember looking at the cover and thinking ‘It would be a lot easier to get girlfriends if we had one of these in the family!’ Now, I can take a trip over to Munich and see the racetrack-ready car in person, and according to the official BMW Blog, there’s a strong rumour that it might also be appearing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from the 10th-13th of July 2025.
In other NFS news, Need for Speed™ Unbound Vol. 9: Lockdown is available to download now, and the special M3 GTR makes an appearance once more. Vol. 9 also marks the first time that players can use bikes in the series too – the 2019 S 1000 RR. The GTR will also appear on Need for Speed: Mobile, but only in China!
