It's been 28 years since Rare brought Banjo and Kazooie into our lives in their maiden N64 adventure, and they changed our lives for the better in the process. It was the first game I tried out when I received my Analogue 3D in the post, and it continues to be one of the most treasured games in my collection.
There have been a string of N64 greats getting the recompiled treatment of late; Mario Kart, Majora's Mask, Quest 64. Even unreleased games like Dinosaur Planet have come back to the fold. Now, modders have got Banjo Kazooie running in 4K with 120fps with widescreen support. Though as you can see from the video posted by Andy from VGC below, the game wasn't really ever meant to be played on a screen this wide!

The visuals of the new recompiled version of the game are, quite frankly, stunning. They look how I imagined the game looked back in the 90s - smooth, slick, and the peak of gaming technology. Everything's full and clear, and to be honest, I think this is the main way I'll be playing the game from now on. Sorry, Analogue, but even the 3D doesn't make the game look this good!

BK now supports controllers with dual joysticks and has a mod menu to mess around with, as well as being able to save your notes (finally!). The recompiled version has even got the seal of approval from Rare royalty Steve Mayles too!
Recompiled, oh my word!

People just love the bear and bird! https://t.co/VfZPS1qvCB
The recompiled version of the game can be accessed as long as you have a legal ROM of the North American version of Banjo-Kazooie. Now that this Rare classic has been completed, it's got me hoping Donkey Kong 64 and Conker's Bad Fur Day could be next. Fingers crossed it won't be long till they're in the bank too - there has never been a better time to be a die-hard N64 fan than now!
