ANBERNIC To Release 3 New Transparent RG35XXSP Handheld Variants Soon

anbernic rg35xxsp transparent green

ANBERNIC’s RG35XXSP is an incredible affordable handheld that pleases clamshell fans that love to emulate their favourite retro games. It’s likely going to be one of ANBERNIC’s best sellers of the year too, and will likely end up in a yearly best retro handhelds video in a couple of months.

It does many things well and ANBERNIC has priced it competitively, however at launch there was only four colours to choose from: transparent black, Grey, transparent blue and a silver. My favourite being the Grey variant which has a subtle nod to classic Game Boy DMG.

However ANBERNIC has informed Retro Dodo that three new transparent colours are launching in the near future, making it a total of 7 to choose from, with a pre-order listing likely going live in a couple of weeks. The new colours are:

  • Transparent Green
  • Transparent Pink
  • Transparent White (which is a lighter version of their black, so likely far more transparent)

The images sent over show three new colours and these consoles feature white buttons too, which is different in comparison to the previous colorways. As of now I am not sure if the shoulder buttons will be white too, but I can imagine they will be.

ANBERNIC only tend to release new colours of handhelds that are doing well in the market, so it’s good to see them open up new choices to potential customers that have been on the fence with this one, as it’s genuilny a great device, so good in fact that I gave it a 9/10 in our review.

Could this be the start of ANBERNIC slowing down their product launches… absolutely not, but it’s a sign that they are looking back at popular devices and potentially reigniting them with new colours and some TLC.
