The leaks last month were right, a new metal handheld is being released by ANBERNIC called the RG477M.

For those who have followed us for some time, you will know that we have been big fans of ANBERNIC's previous metal devices, the latest being the RG405M, which was released way back in 2023.

Yesterday ANBERNIC uploaded a YouTube video showing the handheld in person, with two colourways, and it looks identical to the leaks.

The video shows the new metal shell, alongside two colourways: silver and a dark bronze, which I believe hasn't been used before in is a unique colour to this device, never being used before in other ANBERNIC devices.

First glance?

From first glance, I believe this will feature a 4:3 display that's likely going to be 4.7", due to its "477M" name, which gives away some specs following ANBERNIC's history. This may be identical to the one used in the RG Slide.

This display uses "LTPS" technology, known as Low-Temperature Polysilicon. This is a higher-quality material used to make the transistors that control each pixel on the screen, it will:

    • Perform better than regular amorphous silicon transistors
    • Allow for higher resolution displays

It looks like they are also using their signature LED joysticks, which can be set to a multitude of different colours, found in recent devices such as their RG406H.

It will be Android-based, and rumours have it that it may feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 CPU. This CPU, paired with enough RAM, can emulate PlayStation 2 and GameCube games very well.

As of right now, this is all we know, as they have not publicly shared information regarding specs, pricing or release dates. My bet is that it will go up for pre-order in August.
