Analogue has shared an update on their social media for plans regarding the rest of 2023.
And typically, a post from Analogue can be a scary thing. Because if it is not one of their trivial retro game play videos, it is news of a delay or a new limited edition product.
Today’s update includes both of those as well. But luckily for our hearts and our wallets, today’s post is mostly good news.
So let’s break it down and see what we should expect for the rest of the year from Analogue.
Analogue Updates
Analogue dropped quite a bit of information on us all at once. So there is a lot to dig in to.
The first, and least interesting to us, is the announcement that the Analogue Duo will finally begin shipping before Christmas (December 11th specifically).
If we pre-ordered the Duo, we all but forgot about it. So if one arrives before the end of the year, it will be a surprise to everybody involved.
The next update that actually does interest us is that Analogue says they will have a restock of the standard edition Pockets. That would be the black and white models.
So if you have not been able to get your order in yet, we could hopefully expect more units available to purchase at the standard retail price.
Hopefully you have not had to turn to those nasty scalpers to get your Analogue Pocket fix.
Analogue currently has the indicator “available Dec 4, 8am pst” on the product listing for the black and white Analogue Pocket models.
These will ship immediately and should be received before Christmas.
The Bad News
It wouldn’t be an Analogue update without a bit of bad news as well.
And in this case, we learned that there is yet another delay on delivery of the Analogue Pocket Adapter set.
This specific product has been a massive disappointment for so many, with endless delays and very little consolation from the responsible party.
The Analogue Pocket Adapter set will be shipping in late February 2024, if the latest news is to be trusted.
The Most Exciting News
Alongside the restock for the Analogue Pocket, there will also be a brand new Limited Edition White Dock on Dec 4th.
Yes, quite frustrating that this is yet another limited product that will sell out instantly and become a hot commodity on the scalper market.
But if you can get your order in on December 4th, an all white dock would be a pretty sweet addition to your collection. Good luck…
The final, and most exciting news for us is a follow up to the Analogue Pocket OS v1.2 & 2.0 release dates.
We broke this news down previously in our article “Analogue Confirms OS 2.0 Update Coming In 2023”.
But to summarize, the incoming OS v2.0 will add Display Mode support to openFPGA, as well as a brand new CRT Trinitron display mode. That is something we did not yet know about!
Both OS updates will feature important bug fixes, more controller support, updates to Nanoloop, and new openFPGA Developer features.
And with four weeks left in the year, we know that the wait for OS v1.2 and 2.0 will be relatively short.
We absolutely cannot wait to update our Analogue Pocket and try out the new features!
