Today, Ed Annunziata and his team, who are developing the upcoming Ecco the Dolphin remaster, held a Live Q&A on their Discord channel, answering their community's questions about the upcoming "Complete" game.
There were many questions, including a comment about Ecco the Dolphin is "coming no matter what" and more, but one that stayed with me was a question about the upcoming game, if it will come in a phyiscal edition, and if there will be a deluxe/collectors edition for the true fans who love the games.
To everyone's delight, Ed confirmed that a phyiscal edition will be coming alongside the plans of a deluxe edition that will include Ecco The Dolphin merchandise, but not just any merchandise, these accessories won't be "cheesy", "there won't be any t-shirts or any chacki's" states Ed.
"Whatever comes with the Deluxe Edition of Ecco the Dolphin Complete must be somehow integrated into the Ecco Universe. It needs to be clever and weird".
Ed is unsure what will be in the deluxe editions as its "still to early" to plan the phyiscal side of the game as all the focus and time is going into the game at the moment in time, so much so that Ed stated that he is visiting Japan soon to specifically meet SEGA to ask them a very important question.
Ed publicly stated that he is visiting SEGA to ask for their permission to include Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of The Future on Dreamcast to be featured in the Complete remaster, alongside the request to include Ecco Jr. "I want this complete remaster to be complete", and for that to happen, SEGA needs to hand over the games.
So it's clear Ed is doing everything in his power to make this the ultimate collection of Ecco the Dolphin games to pair with the remaster, he just needs to butter of SEGA before he can begin planning the phyiscal side of the game alongside what's included in the deluxe editions. I like that he doesn't want to add that and that any accessories or goodies included must pair with the Ecco lore!
