There is so much speculation about the Nintendo Switch at the minute that you can hardly open any social media platform without reading something about it. There are some solid rumours floating around the internet that we’ve already compiled into a list as well as the information that we’ll hear about the next console before the end of the Japanese fiscal year, a fact that we’ve all been clinging to as the months roll by. A mockup of the new console at CES 2025 has people thinking that an announcement could be coming sooner rather than later, however, with accessory maker Genki showcasing a model that’s apparently very close to the real machine.

So where has all of this come from then? Well, according to IGN and French publication Numerama, Genki have been displaying a mockup model of the new Nintendo Switch 2 that confirms our suspicions that we will be getting magnetic Joycons on the new console. What’s more, the console itself and screen will apparently both be bigger, two factors that we’ve both suspected for some time too.
Genki are putting the word out that the Switch could launch as early as this April, but if that’s true then time is running out for Nintendo to make an official announcement… and it could come at any time. So many rumours are swirling now that the time is ripe for Shuntaro Furukawa to pull the trigger and let the world know about the new console. It’s not like we can get any more excited; we’re already chomping at the bit to find out more news!
As always, it’s important to take rumours with a pinch of salt, even when accessory makers are showcasing mockups that they claim to be close to the original hardware. Although you’ve got to admit, it’s all looking pretty promising if mockups are appearing at huge events like CES! AS always, I’ll keep you posted as more information drops.
