I've seen a lot of PS1 LEGO sets heading on the LEGO ideas page over the years, all from budding brick experts who want to give their favourite console a spot in the limelight.

One of the hardest things people have found in previous attempts is getting the shape of the console right, especially when it comes to the controller. It's a tricky thing to pull off, and I've applauded every effort I've seen as being far better than anything I could have come up with. But this new offering from AirBricks95 has been the closest thing to the real deal that I've come across!

AirBricks95 is a 10K LEGO Ideas club member, which means they've previously got sets to the 10K mark needed for LEGO to actually consider the design. At the time of writing, their PS1 campaign has been on for less than a week and already has around 3,800 supporters, which is an incredible show of love from the retro gaming and LEGO community. AirBricks95 has 600 days to reach the goal of 10,000, but at this rate, I would imagine they'll hit it in another 6!

This tribute to the PS1 is a 1,141-piece set and comes with the console, two controllers, and memory cards. It looks so good and could easily sit next to official LEGO sets like the Game Boy DMG and the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis controller. The lid of the console lifts up to show the disc drive, and there are even ports for power and A/V cables in the back too.

And the controller looks brilliant too. It's one of the only sets I've seen with round, full controllers that feature all of the original elements of Sony's first gamepad, including cables that plug into the console for that full nostalgic feel. Shape is everything with this remote, and the design is spot on.

If any set can turn LEGO's head, it's this one. Head to the LEGO Ideas page to show your support for free now!
