Gundam fans around the world will want to pay attention to this one – a new life-size Gundam statue will be unveiled at a pavilion exhibited by Bandai Namco at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. Titled the ‘GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION’, the exhibit will serve as a means of connecting Gundam fans from across the globe to celebrate the series that first started back in 1979 in a brand new experience for 2025.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen a life-sized Gundam; remember the moving Gundam showcased at the Factory Yokohama between 2020-2024? Well, this new statue is made from pieces of the old one, with parts being remade into the RX-78F00/E Gundam as opposed to the RX-78 Gundam. It is, however, the first time a life-sized Gundam statue has been showcased in the Kansai area, and with the Bandai Namco website stating that the exhibition will start on April 13th, 2025, fans won’t have long to wait to make the pilgrimage to see the 49.1 ton statue in all its glory.

The Future Pavilion part of the exhibition is set to launch on July 20th, with potential visitors entering a special lottery in order to grab tickets. According to the website, ‘The life in space that is commonly depicted in the GUNDAM series or the futuristic technology that is not developed yet is something the GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION interprets as a possibility for the near future. The pavilion will provide new immersive videos and demonstrations with the pavilion space from phase 0 to 7.’

Take a look at the video below to see the statue being erected, and head to the Bandai Namco website for more information on the event!
