Trips to the supermarket used to be so much more exciting when I was a kid, mainly because it meant I could pick up Panini sticker packs and fill in my football sticker books. They were the best part of the 90s and formed a collecting trifecta with Tazzos and Pogs. And now, there' a game coming from Secret Mode and Sumo Sheffield that brings that same magic back, twinning it with a Football Manager sim.

Nutmeg is a deck-building game that sees players generating collectible cards based on players from the 80s and 90s by training, using the cards to bolster their teams for matches. You'll start with a Division Four team and embark on a '20-year-managerial career' that takes you on a journey to the top of the English Leagues, purchasing players at the right time before they become superstars in order to get the best team.
You'll do all of the things you could imagine Ted Lasso doing; holding press conferences, organising player transfers, and setting prices for tickets for matches (you've got to keep the fans happy!).

According to the official description of the game as seen on Video Games Chronicle, players can “stop an attack, gain control of the ball, and prove their bouncebackability with a well-played card to shift the odds in their favour, and get one in the back of the net.”
Nutmeg is set to release on PC in 2026, and you can keep an eye out for more information on the official Steam page.
