A Bunch Of Retro PlayStation Employee Awards Are Up For Auction

Gaming awards, memorabilia and collectables from the 90s and 2000s are very sought after. It was when the gaming industry was at its peak that creativity flourished and games were made for the people, not the banks.

With this boom, as you know, there were a lot of awards, expos, events and limited edition items given away. Some items were meant to go into the hands of the public, some were not, and these employee awards were ones that probably shouldn't have left the hands of the person who owned them.

InsertBid, a niche auction house focused on retro gaming and collectibles have their hands on an array of PlayStation awards from the early 2000's, including awards and badges given to employees who stay with the company for a whopping 15 years.

These are highly collectable, incredibly rare and is the first time a collection like this has been auctioned off together. It's likely that PlayStation no longer make these awards, or gives them to employees who stay with the company for that long, making them even more unique.

InsertBid has a number of these awards up for grabs. Here's the full list:

Many of these awards come from an ex-PlayStation employee by the name of Lora Marlow, who stayed at the company for over 15 years. Obviously, the awards left her ownership, likely by an avid collector, and now it's finally in the hands of InsertBid, who is listing them all, allowing PlayStation collectors to grab something special for their portfolio. There's also a PlayStation Magazine award given to Ubisoft in 2011 for Rayman Origins.

Some of these awards are small pins with a trophy in them, as if it's been designed for an achievement hunter, but in real life! Then there are the more iconic awards, given for achievements, excellence and hard graft. These are bigger, feel more monumental and feature obvious Sony PlayStation branding that makes for a good talking point if anyone visits your gaming room.

I am unsure how much these will sell for, but the auction starts on Sunday, 24th May, and will run for around 7 days at auction on InsertBid. Each award has a separate auction page, allowing you to pick and choose which one you want to go for. Sniping is impossible on InsertBid, as every bid in the last 60 seconds prolongs the auction, allowing users to have less stress when bidding.
