Taki Udon and Retro Remake has been hard at work creating and shipping the SuperStation One throughout 2026, a FPGA console designed to look like the PS1, capable of playing those games and an array of MiSTer cores in a modern format with a bunch of ports, offering a multitude of ways to play your games, alongside the ability to purchase the Super Dock.

This Super Dock offers even more ports, and even an optical disc drive for those that want to for all of the bells and whistles, with a price tag of $249, or $299 bundled with the dock. Though it could be that a cheaper version is on its way because Taki Udon one of the owners of the company Retro Remake who sells the SuperStation teased a prototype of a new console called the SuperStation One Lite.

In Taki's words: "Last month, we prototyped a $200 SS1 Lite version that has no analog output or Dock support. It uses 2-3W less power and has amazing airflow.". This prototype comes in at a cheaper price with the loss of analogue video output and removes support for the Super Dock, allowing customers to go for something more affordable if they never wanted those features in the first place.

Super Dock Ports

  • 4× additional USB ports
  • M.2 NVMe SSD slot
  • Optical disc drive
  • Dedicated SNAC port
  • Infrared receiver
  • Expansion connector

So, it's a SS1 with only a HDMI port, but comes with reduced power consumption and better airflow, perhaps enhancing the overall output/performance of the console, though I know a lot of people will miss the VGA, DIN10, composite, and component ports that make it "retro" in a sense.

As of now I can't see anything from Taki to confirm this is official and will evefntually be coming to fruition, but if they're working on a prototype that means they're toying with the idea, alongside a potential range of FPGA handhelds coming out too, which he has mentioned on socials. So it seems a lot are in the works at Retro Remake in China, so we'll be keeping a close eye on them throughout 2027.
