Today’s Pokemon presents confirmed the long-awaited arrival of the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl remakes coming to the Nintendo Switch.

In the short and sweet presentation, we received news of two new Pokemon titles in the works including the new Pokemon Legends Arceus, as well as some new Pokemon Snap visuals and lots of stuffed Pokemon everywhere.

And I mean everywhere!

Yes, word has travelled across the voids of the internet about the possibility of these two games being remade for the Switch for a while now. After the success of Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, it was only a matter of time before a new Pokemon game dropped.

It’s been 15 years since the original games released for the DS back in 2006. Can you believe that? This enhanced Sinnoh adventure is sure to put a spring in every pocket monster fan’s step!

Everything We Know About the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Remakes

Rumours arrived in our ears about these remakes back in May 2020. At first, we thought it was lockdown fever, but we soon realised that a gamer who correctly found/guessed the name of Sword and Shield professed to have info about ‘Time Diamond’ and Space Pearl.

A leak from GameFreak a few months later brought ‘Max Diamond and Max Pearl to the table few months after.

We can now confrm that the names are Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and they’re launching late 2021!

What Is Pokemon Diamond & Pearl?

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl follow the same style RPG adventure as the first Red and Blue games for the DMG.

While collecting Pokemon and battling trainers, players must defeat eight gym leaders before competing to be the Pokemon Champion.

Every Pokemon game follows the same pattern, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Players take a trainer around the Sinnoh region, catching critters and updating their pokedexes. I don’t know about you, but Sinnoh is my favourite region of all the games, so news of these remakes has me feeling like a kid in a candy store.

Checking Out The New Games

These new remakes promised to faithfully recreate the original storys from Diamond and Pearl, with all if the same locations, journeys and plot lines. The games are polished and updated versions of the classics we know and love, using the same top-down view used in Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, as well as the immersive battle style akin to Sword and Shield.

Interestingly, the same director that worked on the original DS titles is back to oversee the creation of the new Nintendo Switch titles. The game itself is being made by Ilcainc alongside GameFreak.

Turtwig, Chimchar, and Peplum return as starter Pokemon once more, along with all the same Pokemon from the original adventures. I gotta catch myself a Lucario, that dude rules!

When Will The Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Remakes Be Released?

The new remakes are set to drop late 2021. That could mean Q3, or it could be code for ‘this game should be on your Christmas list. Either way, we’ve got a little wait on our hands.

The new Pokemon Snap game drops in April 2021, which should keep Pika fans occupied until the new releases. Pokemon Legends Arceus is coming in 2022, but that’s all the information the Pokemon Presents clip gave us.

How Much Will The New Games Cost?

At this moment in time, we don’t have any more information as to the price of the Pokemon Diamond & Pearl remakes. If the previous games are anything to go by, then we can expect to pay around £49.99 (around $69) for the new Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl remakes.

One thing is for certain; these new games are going to look superb on the Switch. Plus, if the gameplay is anything like as smooth as the Let’s Go series, then we’re all in for one hell of a spectacular and nostalgic ride.
