Netflix Drops First Look At New Tomb Raider Anime

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft

Netflix has just released a new teaser trailer for their upcoming Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated series.

This upcoming series was brought to us by Legendary Television, who also produced the Skull Island and Pacific Rim animation series.

And, of course, Netflix has been going full on with video game related animated series, including Castlevania and Devil May Cry.

If you are a fan of the production of the Castlevania anime on Netflix, but need something a little less… vampiric… then this new Tomb Raider series might be right up your alley!

The new Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated series is said to continue the iteration of Lara Croft we know from the Crystal Dynamics game trilogy.

That game franchise took Lara down a more dramatic and grounded path. Think more Jason Bourne than Indiana Jones, and you’ll be somewhere near the mark!

The first look video offered today from Netflix is quite brief. And it surely lives up to the name of “teaser” with a lot of quick shots with no context.

It does give us an early impression of the mood of the series while leaving a great deal to be desired about the actual plot.

But, as to be expected, The Legend of Lara Croft looks amazing. The visual production by Powerhouse Animation is looking as pristine as their previous work in the Castlevania anime.

Needless to say, we’re eager to see more of Powerhouse’s work on Tomb Raider, and to find out what is actually going on in Lara’s new chapter.

Sadly, it would seem the days of square body parts are a thing of the distant past for Lara Croft.

But I am a massive fan of the rebirth of Lara Croft in the first Crystal Dynamics video game title. And the animated series is looking to carry that character forward.
