This week has been an exciting one for leaks from some of the biggest gaming companies out there, and the latest leak from Rockstar Games is pointing towards Grand Theft Auto 6 being the most expensive game on the market.
It’s been 10 years since the last Grand Theft Auto game came out, with GTA V dropping on every console since the Xbox 360 and all the way up to the PS5.
Obviously, it’s about time that we had a new GTA game in our lives, but at what cost.
Reports are telling us that the game itself cost $2 billion to make thus far, making it the most expensive video game to develop by far!
That certainly beats Star Citizen at its estimated $415 million development costs so far.
Here’s what we know about GTA 6 and, more importantly, how much it’s set to cost.
The Main Grand Theft Auto Rumours So Far
There have been lots of rumours around the newest Grand Theft Auto 6 game, with the main exciting speculation being more buildings for characters to enter.
If you’re a fan of the best GTA games, then you’ll know all about wanting to take the action indoors as well as outside (and I’m not talking about that Hot Coffee action in San Andreas).
We’ve wanted to go inside more buildings in these games for a long time, and there a rumoured 157 interiors to delve into, making this the most explorative GTA game yet.
We’re also seeing a lot more information about outdoor activities for players to take part in too that aren’t necessarily significant to the main storyline, giving us more reasons to just ‘mill about’ in the world instead of completing main missions.
And here’s the rumour that’s brought you into this article – how much the game is going to cost.
How Much Will Grand Theft Auto 6 Cost To Buy?
Due to the sky-high development costs, Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumoured to cost $150, around £117, to purchase.
Just let that sink in a little… $150 for a standard edition of a game.
Rockstar Games have yet to comment on this rumour or give us a speculation of what the price might be, but let’s take this as gospel for a second.
$150 would be a mammoth amount to pay for a standard edition of a game. Hogwarts Legacy cost around $70, but this would make Grand Theft Auto 6 just over double that price.
Still, if the game lasts for over 200 hours, then gamers are technically paying 75 cents per hour to play the game.
That’s not a lot when you think about it, but still, it’s a lot of money for people to pay up front and has certainly divided opinions.
What do you think about the rumoured price tag of how much Grand Theft Auto 6 could cost. Would you pay that much for a game, or is that far too much to make consumers pay?
