AYANEO has just dropped the first clear images of their highly anticipated AYANEO Flip handheld device. And it is as beautiful as you might expect.
Just last month, we had specs and release info for the AYANEO Kun, a reveal of the New AYANEO Pocket S, and an updated CPU for the AYANEO Pocket Air.
But surely the Flip has to be the device that devoted fans are most eager to hear about.
Well, today’s Twitter post from AYANEO finally gives us an up close look at the new premium clamshell console.

AYANEO Flip
Besides the few teaser images we saw last year and today’s full design reveal, we actually do not know much about the Flip.
AYANEO has yet to give us any spec details, and undoubtedly they will have changed a lot since last year.
AYANEO has a close working relationship with Qualcomm, but their Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 type chips are best suited for Android.
And we expect that the Flip will be a Windows-based console like the KUN. This is what the rumors about the Flip pointed to back in 2022.
So I am anticipating something similar to the Ryzen 7 6800U processor, like what was used in the AYANEO 2.
From the new reveal images, we can see that the device will feature two hall joysticks, a BlackBerry-esque keyboard, a dpad, ABXY buttons, and a collection of additional function buttons for all of our gaming and computing needs.
In our first impressions article for the Flip, we noted that AYANEO had planned a Q4 2022 release. But with so many additional SKUs from them since then, it obviously got pushed back.
Knowing their typical schedule from teaser to reveal to release, we expect that the Flip still has some time to develop. A safe bet would be a Q1 2024 release with some holiday spec reveals in a live stream from AYANEO.
Flip Devices
It would seem that 2023 is going to be the year of clamshell “flip” devices.
The first entry of the year, the Retroid Pocket Flip, did quite well. But I wouldn’t say it quite nailed the concept.
My most anticipated upcoming handheld is the MIYOO MINI FLIP, where I think the design makes much better use of space in a clamshell concept.
This new AYANEO device could be the most unique clamshell we will see in 2023-2024.
And there’s no reason to doubt that it will be the most premium clamshell we will see anytime soon.
We are absolutely looking forward to more information about the Flip.
