1. NieR:Replicant (2021)
The best anime game for Xbox One X/S – NieR:Replicant! If you’re thinking “that’s not an anime” technically, you’d actually be wrong.
While NieR:Automata and NieR:Replicant weren’t based on an anime to begin with, after their game’s release, it spawned enough attention for one to be created. Moving to why this game is so good, it really does have it all – the story, soundtrack, gameplay, art style, each coming together to create a special experience.
The combat is fun and refreshing, with RPG elements that keep your strategy brain ticking over.

Not only does it allow you to relive the series’ most memorable moments, but it also provides an original storyline that fits perfectly within the Dragon Ball lore.
Online multiplayer also features so you can compete against other Dragon Ball fans around the globe. If you’ve got what it takes that is. 3. Tales of Arise (2019)
Part of the famous Tales anime, Tales of Arise comes in to take the third spot. While Arise didn’t get an anime itself, because it’s part of the overarching franchise, we’ll give it a pass.
The graphics are pretty spectacular, drawn with something called an Atmospheric Shader which combines the anime looks with watercolor effects. This makes for a really engaging art style that simply doesn’t age.
The world of Dahna is really brought to life in this one, with both time of day changes and various terrains only adding to the stellar art style, keeping you engaged throughout.

4. Arslan: The Warriors of Legend (2015)
Adapted from the popular anime and manga series The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Arslan: The Warriors of Legend seamlessly blends the universe of Arslan with the fast-paced, large-scale action combat that the series is known for.
You can step into the shoes of various characters from the series, mowing down vast armies and engaging in epic battles to reclaim the kingdom of Pars.
It brings to life the vibrant art style and narrative of the anime, which is great for continuity and familiarity between the two.

You might have dabbled in Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition already, the remaster of the classic game that undoubtedly had to feature in our list.
And if you’ve played it, then you’ll know exactly why! This re-release was made in celebration of the 10th anniversary and definitely has some upgrades over its predecessor. The graphics are stunning, building on the already great art style from before, they’ve been turned up a notch in full HD quality.
The soundtrack that the base game was known for is obviously back with even more tracks to listen too, a brilliant addition in our eyes.
There are also two additional characters the main roster – Patty Fleur and Flynn Scifo – which only add to the experience and keep it fresh for those returning for the Definitive Edition. If you’re after a JRPG based on anime, Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition is perfect.
6. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R (2022)
The biggest manga in the world turned anime, any JoJo game to make it to market would likely appease some of the fanbase.
Thankfully, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a pretty great experience, more than doing enough to win the hearts of franchise lovers. While not as expansive in its gameplay as other best anime games for Xbox One X/S, it gets the basics right.
It’s all about the fighting in this one, allowing you to battle with 50 different characters from the series, some which have never interacted with each other before in any JoJo mediums. The art style is certainly carried over from the franchise, with the distinct visuals of both the anime and manga being brought to life in video game form.
Even though we’ve stated it’s just about fighting, there are a few different modes you can get involved in. All Star Battle Mode, Arcade Mode, Online Mode, Versus Mode, Practice Mode, and Gallery Mode all feature so you can switch it up every now and then.
It’s had various DLCs since release too, meaning if you like the base experience, you can grab some extra content.
7. Attack on Titan 2 (2018)
Attack on Titan is a huge anime at this point, with masses of fans all around the world. While there hasn’t been too many video game entries from the franchise, Attack on Titan 2 is the top one in our eyes.
This one lets you experience the tale of humankind’s struggle against the Titans that threaten their very existence, extremely similar to that of the anime itself.

In this iteration of the franchise, you can relive the intense Fourth Great Ninja War and experience the end of Naruto’s journey. 9. Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles (2021)
Demon Slayer as an anime has taken the world by storm due to its brilliant animation and fantastic storytelling, and Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles has hardly left our Xbox Series X so far!
With The Hinokami Chronicles game, you’ll be taken on a journey through the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy striving to save his sister and avenge his family against demonic forces.

This iteration offers fans an exhilarating dive into the life of Goku and the many characters you know and love. The game chronicles his adventures, battles, and bonds, extending from the Saiyan saga to the Buu saga.
