GB Studio Central, the online resource for the GB Studio development community, has announced GB Studio Magazine, a physical magazine coming quarterly.

The Game Boy development community is a small one. But with the convenience and ease that a program like GB Studio offers, many are hoping to try their hand at video game making.

Heck, even my own game The Mayor of Sanctuary is made using GB Studio. It’s a wonderful tool that has made my job much easier.

But some have no idea where to even start. That’s where a resource like GB Studio Central comes in.

Their website offers tutorials, as well as highlighting game developers and game projects.

And now the useful content available on the GB Studio Central website is coming in a physical magazine, à la Nintendo Power.

GB Studio Magazine

GB Studio Central has shown a couple example layouts for the first edition of their inaugural issue of GB Studio Magazine.

And even just looking at the cover design, we can see the clear and obvious inspirations.

GB Studio Magazine

This makes a lot of sense, since GB Studio Central has always kind of thought of themselves as the Nintendo Power to GB Studio.

Offering something like a printed magazine is a really awesome throwback to the inspiration.

And it also gives members of this small community something that celebrates the niche that they love.

I think the inside spreads that have been shared look quite nice, and they definitely show that the magazine will be well designed.

So I think Game Boy dev fans have something special to look forward to with the future issues of GB Studio Magazine.

But of course, the star of the show is going to be the printed edition that you can browse at leisure on the couch, and add to your bookshelf for years to come.

This will be an awesome edition for Game Boy fans with a bookshelf setup with their consoles on display.
