AYANEO has been on a roll in 2023 with exciting announcement after exciting announcement. And the latest addition to their growing list of upcoming devices is the upgraded AYANEO 2S.
We took at look at the AYANEO 2 earlier this year, and it kind of goes without saying that it was incredible.
With that gorgeous 7 inch bezel-free screen and powerful Ryzen 7 6800U CPU, this thing is ultra premium.
And it bests the performance of the Steam Deck by over 30%.
Well, much like the GEEK 1S, the AYANEO 2 will be getting a major performance upgrade soon.
AYANEO 2S
The AYANEO 2S will feature the new Ryzen 7 7000 CPU that is being added to the GEEK 1S as well.
The new Zen 4 architecture will boost clock speed, boost cache, and have a higher TDP. So that jump from the Ryzen 6800 to the Ryzen 7000 will give about a 13% performance boost.
As far as exterior upgrades, their promo images read “upgrade mold process, incredible touch”, “baby sleeping position grip” and “perfect grip like first love”.
So it sounds like AYANEO might be making improvements to the ergonomics of the device as well.
The AYANEO 2S will come in the same three colorways of the previous iteration: Starry Black, Sky White, and Retro Power.
All future handhelds from AYANEO, including the new AYANEO 2S and Geek 1S, will make use of an improved heat dissipation system.
The new “3+1” upgrade makes use of three copper tubes and a graphene patch will result in much better heat dissipation.
This heat dissipation upgrade is also available as a separate purchase to add-on to existing AYANEO handhelds.
Upgrade Program
Those who have already purchased an AYANEO 2 or a Geek handheld will not be left out in the cold. AYANEO is also planning on offering motherboard upgrade programs.
They have not yet shared full details, but introduced the idea in their recent livestream. Giving us yet another thing to look forward to just around the corner.
From what we can tell, you will be able to purchase an upgraded motherboard that you can swap out yourself to get those performance upgrades without the need to purchase an entirely new handheld.
Admittedly, it can feel a bit off-putting to see a company release the “best” handhelds, and then release an upgraded iteration a month or two later.
But at least AYANEO has been forward thinking and offering both an upgraded full console, as well as upgrade packages to add to existing ones.
If you’re going to invest in an ultra premium handheld gaming PC, it’s good to know that upgrades will be possible to bring it to what is the most current tech.
So good job, AYANEO. You’re thinking of the users. We appreciate that.
