AYANEO To Release An Upgraded “AYANEO GEEK 1S” Handheld

AYANEO Geek 1S

AYANEO has been doing their usual rounds of mass updating, and one of the latest additions to their crazy release schedule is the new AYANEO Geek 1S.

The AYANEO GEEK was their budget version of the AYANEO 2 with an AMD 6800U chipset.

It also features the same 800p screen that is used for the Steam Deck (the AYANEO 2 has a 1200p screen).

But both the AYANEO 2 and Geek would outperform the Steam Deck by nearly 30%.

And with the new upgraded Geek 1S, we are about to see that power advantage increase!

AYANEO seems to be entering a period of major upgrades to a lot of their best selling handhelds creating the new upgraded “S” iterations.

And with the Geek being one of their favorite from their own lineup, this is one of the firsts to get the “S” treatment.

The upgrade to the new Geek 1S will see the handheld with a new AMD 7000 CPU.

I am not really a spec guy, but according to my friend Google, the difference between a Ryzen 6800 and Ryzen 7000 is said to be about a 13% performance increase.

That comes from the new Zen 4 architecture that boosts clock speed, boosts cache, and has a higher TDP. I sound pretty smart, huh?

Obviously, that all breaks down to your games playing faster, smoother, shorter load times, etc.

And a major upgrade that all of the AYANEO consoles will be receiving in the near future is the improved heat dissipation technology.

This will come to all future consoles and is also available in an upgrade kit that you can purchase separately for consoles you already own.

The improvement in heat management comes from a new “3+1” package that uses three copper tubes and a graphene patch, resulting in much better dissipation.

Upgrade Program

If you’ve already got an AYANEO 2 or a Geek handheld, AYANEO is also planning on offering motherboard upgrade programs.

There are no exact details on that quite yet, but they did wanna throw that in to their latest livestream to keep us guessing.

As the name suggests, you should be able to purchase an upgraded motherboard that you can likely swap out yourself to get the performance upgrades without the need to purchase an entirely new handheld.

The AYANEO 2 and Geek are already some of the best looking Windows handhelds on the market. Surely you don’t need us to tell you that.

It kind of goes without saying that if you’re gonna pick up a handheld PC, that AYANEO is the way to go. And these new S versions are gonna be the definitive iteration. For now, at least.
