For the second time, the Pokemon Trading Card Game has collaborated with the artist Yu Nagaba, this time on a special limited edition Eevee card box.
Yu Nagaba’s art had previously been used on a special edition Pikachu card in 2021.
We absolutely love Pokemon cards at Retro Dodo. In fact, we love all things trading cards so much, we are currently building an entire website focusing on them at cardgamer.com.
This new Eevee Special Box will include a custom deck of Pokemon cards focusing on the evolution tree of Eevee and related pocket monsters.
All of them illustrated in Yu Nagaba’s well known line style that gives the cards a pretty unique look to them. Like they are early concept cards or something.
And these kinds of super unique limited edition cards are surely must-haves for the true collectors.
So let’s see exactly what is included in the new limited edition Eevee Special Box.
Yu Nagaba x Pokemon Card Game Eevee’s Special Box
This Pokemon TCG x Yu Nagaba collaboration is a Japan exclusive that will only be available to purchase through the Japanese Pokemon Center.
The Yu Nagaba x Pokemon Card Game Eevee’s Special Box will launch May 24th and will sell for 4,800 Japanese yen (about $35usd).
The box set includes the limited edition collector’s box, a rubber playmat, a set of clear card sleeves, and a deck box.
The specific cards said to be included are Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.
Conclusions
It is always a bit of a bummer when something this cool is an exclusive that most of us will have a lot of difficulty getting our hands on.
But it’s cool enough that we also certainly want to know that it exists. We wouldn’t keep something like this from our Dodo family.
It sounds like the Pokemon company is very happy with the collaboration with Yu Nagaba and plans on making this a thing.
On May 5th, there is also supposed to be an announcement about a special line coming to BEAMS clothing featuring Yu Nagaba x Pokemon artwork.
