If you’re a regular Retro Dodo reader, then you’ll know all about the exciting new partnership between Numskull Games and Atari. Now, as part of their Akka Arrh Special Edition release, gamers are about to get their hands on some exciting Akka Arrh Mini Arcade cabinets!
Numskull Games are continuously releasing exciting content for the gaming community. Not only have we had some slick quarter arcade cabinets in recent years, but we’ve also put our grubby mitts on some fantastic original titles such as Final Vendetta and Clive N Wrench.
You’ll have read all about Akka Arrh in our recent news post, the exciting new game from Atari that looks like something many 60s and 70s bands imagined while relaxing in their downtime.
It’s based on an arcade game concept from 1982 that never saw the light of day.
But now, with some modern retouching from Jeff Minter, it’s finally getting the airtime it was born to receive, and we’re loving every second of it.
Granted, if you’re easily overwhelmed with flashing lights or any kind of cyber space rave, then it might not be for you. But that’s the charm of these early arcade games; they’re meant to make you leave feeling like you’ve got square eyes and lights dancing everywhere!
What’s Inside The Akka Arrh Special Edition?
The special edition of Akka Arrh is exclusively dropping in Europe and features some slick cover art that only PAL gamers can get their hands on too.
Sorry if you’re an NTSC or J-NTSC gamer; you’ll have to order from selected PAL retailers if you want to get your hands on this set!
But what’s inside the special edition? How can Numskull games fit an arcade cabinet in such a small box?
The answer – players will receive two bespoke papercraft Akka Arrh Mini Arcade cabinets standing at just 11.6cm tall each.
Ok, so they’re not actual playable cabinets like the quarter arcades Numskull has released before, but they’re still super cool and will look great on your shelf or next to your TV!
The first Mini Arcade cabinet looks just like the original arcade cabinet concept looked, the one we almost got to play before Akka Arrh was shelved. The second origami masterpiece is based on a design by Jeff Minter himself, and both come with stickers made by Butcher Billy (@billythebutcher) to complete the look!
Akka Arrh’s Special Edition pack will cost £44.99 / €49.99 SRP and will is dropping on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 in Europe. Check out Numskull Games for retailer links and information on pre-orders!
