If you’re looking to complete your Pokedex while travelling through Paldea, then you’re definitely going to need to know how to get Iron Leaves in Pokemon Violet.

Note that I said Pokemon Violet there, readers – if you’re playing Pokemon Scarlet, then you’ll need to check out our how to get Walking Wake in Pokemon Scarlet article, as Iron Leaves is only available in Violet.

Ok, now that we’ve got that sorted, let’s carry on!

Getting Iron Leaves isn’t just as simple as grabbing a load of Pokeballs and heading out into tall grass, however.

You’ve very much got to be in the right place at the right time to catch this Paradox Pokemon. And you’ve got to be in a 5 Star Tera Raid battle too!

Don’t worry if all of this sounds like gobbledegook; we’re here to help you out with all of the basics and to guide you all the way to having Iron Leaves on your team.

After this guide, you’ll know how to get Iron Leaves, how powerful it is, what its best moves are, and lots of other information that you can tell your friends at parties!

How To Get Iron Leaves In Pokemon Violet - tera raid search

To catch Iron Leaves, you need to visit the Poke Portal Menu to sync with the Tera Raid Battle Search. Now you’re online, the option to join the Iron Leaves Raid will appear.

Before we get into battle specifics, please remember that you need a Nintendo Switch Online account to take part in this event.

Most of us are well versed in Tera Raids by now, so we know the score and how these battles go down. However, with a Tera Event, there’s a few key elements to be mindful of.

Firstly, you need to have finished the main story in Pokemon Violet to take part in 5-Star Tera Raids. I assume this won’t be an issue for most of you, but if you’ve yet to face down Professor Turo, now is the time to learn how to reach Area Zero in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Secondly, Iron Leaves is a high level Grass/Psychic Type, so you need to plan accordingly – I’d advise using a Fire or Ghost Type, like Flareon or Houndstone.

Thirdly, know the moves your opponent will use during battle. Iron Leaves can use:

  • Leaf Blade
  • Swords Dance
  • Psyblade
  • Electric Terrain.

As with Walking Wake, you can only capture one Iron Leaves per game.

When Is The Next Iron Leaves Tera Raid Event?

Iron Leaves will be coming back to a Tera Raid battle again in 2023, so if you’ve not managed to catch it yet, don’t despair.

The Pokemon Company announce in advance which Pokemon will be available to catch in their Tera Raid battles, so make sure to keep this guide handy and to tune back in as and when we announce the news.

How Strong Is Iron Leaves?

Iron Leaves has a base stat total of 590, with an impressive Attack stat of 130. It’s lacking in Defence and Sp. Attack, so those would be areas to concentrate on while training.

With 104 speed, you’ll definitely get your attacks in first when going up against most Pokemon, and its Sp. Defence of 108 is definitely going to help against some of the Special Attacks from opponents in the same bast stat range.

90 HP isn’t incredible, especially when you consider the 88 Defence (Physical) stat, but as long as you put a lot of work into levelling up, you’ll begin to up these stats quickly!

What Are The Best Moves Iron Leaves Has?

Solar Blade (Grass), Close Combat (Fighting), Hyper Beam (Normal), and Leaf Storm (Grass) are Iron Leaves’ strongest moves.

Out of the four, Solar Beam and Close Combat are the most powerful, dealing 120 damage and 100 accuracy every time!

That’s all you need to know, so go and enjoy immersing yourself in the wonders of Paldea once more (if you ever left). Oh, and don’t forget to read all about the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC revealed, titled “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” – this DLC looks so so good.
