It has been over three years since the release of the best Pokemon film ever made. And maybe you were not even aware that a follow up, Detective Pikachu 2, was already in the works.

Things have been so quiet regarding the sequel that we almost forgot about it. Or, to be more accurate, we try not to think about it too much! Because it will give us anxiety knowing it’s not here yet.

But according to recent word from the film’s production company, Detective Pikachu 2 is still on its way. We will just have to wait a bit longer.

The statement coming directly from Legendary Entertainment is that the film is still “in active development” (Source: Polygon).

I know… that’s not a lot to go off of. But it is still a comfort for those of us eagerly awaiting a followup to the original.

We just wish we knew more about the film!

It’s safe to guess we will see a return from the original film’s stars Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith. But where they will take the story is a mystery we will need a detective for.

No doubt it will be bigger, better, and stuffed full of some of our favorite Pokemon.

The first film, Detective Pikachu (2019), was an absolute blast from start to finish.

It was fun, cute, beautiful, it had action, heart, and all of the Pokemon tropes you’d hope for.

In fact, I wrote our article about every Nintendo movie, and I gave Detective Pikachu the number one spot. I loved it that much.

So my fingers are crossed that they can repeat the success of the first film. And our eyes and ears are wide open waiting for those juicy details as they emerge.
