Today’s super awesome, super exciting, and super dirty list is the best PS4 dirt bike games!
We’ve certainly covered quite a lot of racing games here at Retro Dodo. The Best Racing Games On Nintendo Wii, the Best PS3 Racing Games, the Best Dreamcast Racing Games. We got a bunch of ’em.
But we have yet to cover any two wheel racing in its own dedicated list.
There’s certainly no shortage of motorcycle themed games or dirt bike games.
Heck, there was a dirt bike game on the NES (Excitebike)!
But dirt bike games have come a long way since the pitter-patter of that 1984 motocross “thriller”.
Now we have ultra realistic bikes modeled after the real thing… with advanced simulation of dirt and mud flying everywhere.
It all makes for quite an exciting experience. Real excite bike, you know?
So let’s get our hands dirty… and our feet, and our face… It’s the best PS4 dirt bike games!
Table of Contents
5. MotoRacer 4 (2016)
MotoRacer 4 is arcade dirt bike racing at its wackiest.
It’s like a true 3d version of Trials Fusion, which will appear later in our list.
The tracks are over the top, unrealistic, there’s a ton of fun obstacles, and everything is fast and crazy.
You can earn style points by doing tricks as you jump over rocks and hills. And beams of light shoot out your butt as you hit a speed boost.
There’s really nothing realistic about this game, and we do not fault the creators for that.
It’s arcade silliness that we love, and a great time if you’re not looking for ultra realistic motorcross racing.
That’s not to take away from the game at all. It’s all a gorgeous experience with super clean UI and stunning environment design.
Easily one of the best PS4 dirt bike games out there, and a fun way to start off our list.
4. MX VS ATV All Out (2018)
MX VS ATV All Out is another throw back to classic arcade style race games.
The game play focuses less on ultra realistic bike performance, and just gives you a super fun arcade racing experience.
The graphics are very polished and highly detailed and make for a visually stimulating experience. It only adds to the intensity.
The maps are a mix between real supercross locations and many fantasy tracks, and there’s a ton of DLC available if you’d like to unlock more tracks, more bikes, etc.
This is not a simulator game by any means.
It’s a fun throwback to the crazy racing games of the 90s and early 00s… and we absolutely love it that way.
3. MXGP 2021 – The Official Motocross Videogame (2021)
When you hear “MXGP 2021: The Official Motocross Videogame”, you’re gonna expect one of the best of the genre.
And when it comes to the MXGP franchise, you wouldn’t be entirely wrong.
As perhaps the most realistic and in depth dirt bike game for the PS4, MXGP 2021 is easily one of the best.
These advanced motocross games require some time to learn the mechanics and perfect your riding skills.
It’s not as simple as press the gas and go. You will absolutely need to understand a balance of body weight, dirt bike balance, gas, brake, track conditions… it’s quite a realistic experience.
Thankfully, the rewind feature in MXGP 2021 allows you to correct your mistakes.
And you can also fine tune your bikes settings to help get things just right for your play style.
You can jump right into the quick play mode and start tuning your riding.
All tracks are unlocked from the time of purchase, so you’re free to explore everything that the game has to offer without the need to grind your way through the Career mode.
Of course, the official Motocross video game comes loaded with all of the officially licensed race tracks, riders and sponsors.
So fans of the real world racing community will absolutely love simulating dirt bike racing in a safe setting.
2. Trials Fusion (2014)
Trials Fusion is not a traditional racing game, but easily one of the most entertaining game experiences on a dirt bike for the PS4.
You race through psuedo-3d environments (it plays like a 2d platformer) and take wild loops and leaps around the most unrealistic race tracks conceivable.
Literally… fire, bombs exploding, space ships, a futuristic AI controlled world… Normal stuff.
The goal is to complete each insane track as fast as possible, and with the most style. The more backflips the better.
It’s a ton of fun and offers so many challenges and achievements.
If you’re somebody who likes a little trial and error to achieve the best times possible and see your name on the online leaderboards… Trials Fusion is the game for you.
1. Monster Energy Supercross 5 (2022)
The results are in, the dirt has flown, and Monster Energy Supercross 5 is officially the best dirt bike game on PS4!
Monster Energy has been releasing motocross games for a few years now. They started back in 2018, and have released an entry annually. And the most recent edition is their most ambitious.
Games of the Supercross franchise focus on local North American tracks to keep things simple.
But this game is anything but simple… in fact, it’s one of the most advanced motocross racing simulators we have.
Monster Energy Supercross 5 was a pretty large leap in graphics quality, and also curbs the game’s notorious difficulty.
They even created full voice-acted assist modes to help you understand the best riding techniques.
With a giant story mode, bike and rider upgrades, skilltrees and side events means you have a ton of content to work your way through.
And as you are probably hoping for… Monster Energy Supercross 5 does include online racing and even local split screen, a feature we miss from classic party gaming.
Monster Energy Supercross 5 is truly one of the best PS4 dirt bike games we have on the market.
We are happy to give it our number one spot for the best PS4 dirt bike games.
