We love a nostalgic games drop here at Retro Dodo, and the news that the Atari: The 50th Anniversary Celebration is dropping on all major consoles this November has us very excited!

Can you believe that Atari has been making games for 50 years? It’s crazy, isn’t it!

This is more than just a compendium of games, however. If you love everything Atari, then these discs (or cart if you’re rocking the Switch) are jam-packed full of extra content to scratch that Atari itch.

Encompassing all the classic Atari consoles including some rare numbers, players can either relive the Atari glory years or discover them for the very first time.

Oh, and it includes new games too. Bet that caught your attention, right?

Let’s take a look, shall we?

Taking A Look At Atari: The 50th Anniversary Celebration

Atari have knocked out classic title after classic title over the years. We owe so much to the best Atari 2600 games and many more epic titles, with machines that helped to shape the future of gaming over the globe.

Any Atari fan needs this title in their lives. Boasting 100 games spanning the 8-bit computer years, 2600, 5200, 7800, Lynx and Jaguar, it’s the ultimate nostalgic compendium.

And here’s the best bit.

Digital Eclipse have made 6 new games for us to try out.

Remember Airworld? Well the long-awaited 4th chapter is dropping as part of Atari: The 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Dive back into Quadratank with a new adventure too, the first since 1978. We’re most excited about the isometric version of the classic Haunted House title too.

That game brings back memories!

Extra Content For The Super Fans

One of the reasons Atari: The 50th Anniversary Celebration excites us so much is the inclusion of something called Interactive Timelines.

See how much Atari Trivia you really know, all while checking out exciting interviews with the people who made your beloved games. Watch clips made by developers and industry professionals who helped to push the Atari brand over the years.

The games are one thing, but having a chance to learn about such an influential company and the impact it had on the world is worth the cost price alone!

What Was The First Atari Game To Release?

Pong was the very first Atari arcade game all the way back in 1972.

We’ve come a long way since then, but a game from 50 years ago still has us on the edge of our seats after a few beers in 2022.

The tension in that game is incredible!
