If you have just loaded up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge then it’s likely you’ll be coming across the big rhino boss that is Rocksteady.

Rocksteady can be an annoying enemy, especially if you’re going in blind, or on harder difficulties.

So, in Retro Dodo fashion we want to help you, and teach you how to beat Rocksteady in TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.

So, grab your weapons, and lets hop into it.

1. Jump Over His Shotgun

The first attack that Rocksteady will use is his shotgun. He pulls it out fairly quickly into the battle and it scatters three-ways across the screen, getting wider the further it gets.

To dodge all of these it’s best to stay on his side of the screen but above or below his location to begin with. His bullets cannot hit you, but be warned, he jumps up or down the screen after every shot, so it’s best to hop away before he lands on you.

If you find yourself on the other end of his shotgun we advise moving as far away from him as possible and jumping over the bullets where you can, inching your way closer and closer in time for his move to finish.

His shotgun move typically stops after three to five moves.

Once finished, this is your time to quickly deal some damage before he starts attacking again, but be swift, you only have a couple of seconds.

2. Dodge His Charges

Between his special moves Rocksteady typically likes to charge to different positions of the screen, this is one of the hardest moves to dodge as it’s when you are dealing damage, so our advice would be to only deal a few hits after his shotgun and then jump out to safety.

3. Hide From Exploding Grenades

His next special move can be deadly. Rocksteady throws a handful of bombs across the screen giving you only a few areas to hid.

The best way to hide from these is simply watching where they go as he throws them and move towards the corners of the screen. You have approximately one second before they explode giving you some thinking time to escape.

He typically throws up to 6 grenades between 2 – 3 times, so just like last time prepare to get close once he’s finished.

Oh, and don’t forget he’ll charge to escape shortly after.

4. Defeat the small guys

Once you’ve done a round or two of his special attacks things get even more difficult. This time you will not only have to dodge Rocksteady’s shotgun bullets, you also have to defend yourself from enemies.

The worst are the yellow coloured variants which throw shurikens at you from a distance, making even more things to dodge.

The best thing you can do is ignore Rocksteady completely and defeat the foot clan as quickly as possible. Rocksteady at this point is only going to repeat his move set over and over, giving you knowledge of where not to be.

The foot clan however will simply engage, remove these quickly and get back to defeating the Rhino.

5. Use your super attack

Use your super attack if you’re taking too much damage this will sort them out and cause damage to Rocksteady simultaneously.

Because the battle throws extra foot men at you, it’s best to use these to your advantage by killing them and filling up your super attack bar.

There’s enough enemies to do this once or twice throughout the battle so user your super attacks as much as possible!
