Grab some AA batteries, folks; it’s time to check out the best Nintendo Wii party games of all time!

Nintendo are known for being a family-friendly company, and the Wii was perhaps the most exciting console for families to gather around.

Until the Nintendo Switch and it’s amazing games overtook it in the official console sales rankings, that is!

Still, if you’re looking for a console that oozes family-friendly titles and party games for you and your mates to delve into, then you can’t beat that feeling of holding a Wiimote in your hand and swinging it through the air.

Over the course of the next 10 titles, we’ll be going jet-skiing, dancing, picking noses, and much, much more.

So, let’s check out the best Nintendo Wii Party games of all time and kick off with Number 10!

1. Mario Party 8 (2007)

It had to be, didn’t it? Mario Party 8 takes the top spot as the best Nintendo Wii party game of all time!

We all love a Mario Party game, and Mario Party 8 scored incredibly high in our Mario Party game rankings.

I’m even going to look past the 4:3 ration even though I had a widescreen TV too… I promise I won’t mention it ever again… from now on.

With 8.85-million copies sold, it’s also the 11th best-selling Wii game for the console too. What a winner!

If you’ve never played a Mario Party game before, then you need to rectify that immediately!

Play through colourful game board as you collect coins to buy stars. Listen to the rules from MC Ballyhoo (specific to Mario Party 8) and battle other famous faces from the Mushroom Kingdom to become the Party Star!

The mini games at the end of each round are where the real madness happens. Compete in mad challenges as you try to win the most coins. It’s not as fast-paced as WarioWare, but you’ll definitely need more skills and patience!

2. WarioWare: Smooth Moves (2006)

WarioWare: Smooth Moves isn’t just one of the best Nintendo Wii party games, it’s one of my favourite multiplayer games of all time on any console.

If you’ve never played this game before, then I can best describe it as a panic attack with Wario and friends along for the ride.

Compete against your mates or solo as you play games that last 3 to 5 seconds long. Most of the time, the game is over before you’ve figured out what you need to do… but it’s a massive thrill!

It’s not just the moves that look smooth in this game either. Wario has ditched his old duds and now has some cool Motley Crue biker vibe going on.

Use the Wiimote in all manner of ways as you try to beat the zany puzzles set for you. Choose different characters and a bucketload of games that you’ll never get bored playing.

This is definitely one of the best couch co-op games I’ve ever played. It’s fun to see your mates lose their minds in real-time and never fails to provide a laugh or four.

3. Wii Party (2010)

With over 80 exciting party games for you and your Mii to tackle, Wii Party takes the bronze medal in our best Nintendo Wii Party games compendium!

We all loved making our Miis; it’s one of the reasons the Mii Plaza music is so damn catchy!

And you know what, and I’m not just saying this because I’ve got a word count to hit, but the graphics on this game are incredible. Ok, so it’s pretty simple and rounded, but just look at the trees and the bushes in the distance above. Pretty good, right?

Wii Party won’t ever be as popular as Wii Sports, but we’re talking about party games now, so it’s finally got one up on the best-selling Wii game of all time.

Here’s to you, Wii Party, take this win!

4. Just Dance 2020 (2019)

This isn’t a typo, and you’re not seeing things. Just Dance 2020 did, in fact, drop on the Wii. Ubisoft know their target market alright, and they knew that a lot of Just Dance users bought the title religiously for the Wii.

Even though the Wii was discontinued in 2012, they still kept rolling out the games. Give the people what they want – that’s what it’s all about!

Ok, so I know that a pink Gorilla and a purple hippo dancing on screen could seem like a really bad trip, but stick with me.

Just Dance 2020 is one of those games that instantly breaks the ice in any situation. It doesn’t matter whether you don’t know anyone in the room or you’re best friends with all the players, you’re guaranteed a laugh no matter what.

Hold the Wiimote and pull off moves you never knew were possible. Just close the curtains first so the neighbours don’t laugh at you!

5. Go Vacation (2011)

Who fancies vacationing on Kawawii Island? I mean, it’s got Wii in the title, so Go Vacation just has to be in our party list, right?

Your living room just got a whole more tropical and exciting now that you can play party games in stunning locations from the comfort of your sofa. We’re talking hitting up snow, city, beach and more beautiful locations all on one island.

So what can we do in this game?

Well, you can go riding around on horseback, take jet-skis into the clear ocean, dive out of a plane, or head out on a long drive while you explore.

With over 50 games to play, there’s plenty for you and your family to have a go at.

And the best bit is, you don’t need to take travel insurance out for any of them! RESULT!

6. Fortune Street (2011)

Have you ever played Monopoly and wished that it felt more like Nintendo-ified? Well, you’re in luck, because Fortune Street is up next in our best Nintendo Wii party games list!

If you loved Dragon Quest, then you’ll also recognise some of the characters from the series too. There’s no free parking or jail to go to, but you still roll a dice and move along a board.

Buy a property, develop it, collect money, purchase stocks, draw cards… ok, so it’s so like Monopoly that it hurts, but I guess it’s more fun for people that refuse to play the board game with me every Christmas…

… not that I’m in pain from the idea or anything.

The main difference to Monopoly is that sometimes you win if you have the most money and properties, and sometimes you only win when the other players lose everything.

Brutal, right?

7. Pac-Man Party (2010)

Pac-Man has taken a break from dot-eating and now he’s setting up mini-games for you and your mates to play along with.

So apparently, Pac Man has a cookie recipe that Blinky the Red Ghost has stolen. It’s not the most believable of stories seen as though I’ve never ever seen Pac-Man bake, but it makes for the premise of a cool party game!

Your mission is to collect cookies through games. Build castles, defend them, win cookies.

It’s basically Game of Thrones with baked goods and Pac-Man… right?

Play single mode with different boards, four-player multiplayer mode, and an all-out mini-game battle.

Plus, there are also some epic arcade games bundled in as an extra feature too. Get back into the original Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug.

8. Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party (2008)

Imagine a version of WarioWare with rabbids, and you’re half way there. You can even use the Wii Balance Board, one of the best Wii accessories, in this game too!

Mini games and micro games based on TV shows and films make up the main gameplay, and some of the names will make you both laugh and cringe in equal measure.

We’re talking ‘Night of the Zombids’, ‘Rabzilla’, and games like ‘Flippin Burgers’ when you feed a walrus pattys.

Flipper… walrus… get it?

Collect coins, compete with other Rabbids, and try your hand at food-sim titles to rhythm-based games and more!

9. Toy Story Mania! (2009)

You got a friend in me… until you play Toy Story Mania! with me, then we’ll be mortal enemies forever.

If you’ve been on the Midway Mania ride at Disneyland at some point in your life, then this game will make a little more sense. It’s based on the ride with a whole bunch of carnival mini games to try.

The coolest part is that it’s the characters that have put the roster of games together. Woody and the gang are pretty clever, huh?

We’ve all had a go at games like skee ball and shooting ranges at carnivals, winning big teddy and goldfish to take home with us.

Hit targets to uncover secrets, using the Wiimote to tilt balls, shoot, and much more.

Graphics wise, it still looks pretty exciting too. There’s lots going on to look at visually, a feast for the eyes, and having the Toy Story characters popping up on the screen never fails to make a 90s kid like me feel nostalgic!

10. Boom Blox (2008)

Any game that Steven Spielberg puts his name to has to be good, right? Boom Box looks a little like a cross between Minecraft and ZooCube. Your mission is to either stop a structure from being knocked down or to knock a structure down.

Either way, you’re wielding the Wiimote as you throw and grab blocks in colourful worlds!

There are 300 levels in this game, each with a different scenario to play through. Co-op and no-holds-barred VS play happens over the course of 100 levels, giving you and up to 3 extra mates the chance to create structures and cause havoc together.

That’s the cement that holds friendships together, after all.

If your family loves the idea of solving puzzles together rather than shooting enemies or kicking a ball, then this is a party game that you need in your life.
