Super Rare Games have today announced that they’ve partnered with Team17 and Heliocentric Studios to release a physical edition of Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos – a roguelite action adventure game, inspired by classic Zelda titles – on the Nintendo Switch.

What is Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos?

Though inspired by Zelda, Rogue Heroes brings some nicely modern touches to its gameplay – including procedurally generated dungeons and co-operative multiplayer for up to four players. The game sees the land of Tasos threatened by a dark evil, with the ancient seals that have kept the dangerous Titans at bay being weakened – and the Goddesses responsible for forging the seals enlisting the heroes to save the world.

The game’s trailer promises plenty of action-packed, fantasy adventuring against monsters large and small – with the huge Titans themselves providing battles on an impressively large scale. Adding to the more modern twist on a classic formula, Rogue Heroes has a wealth of options for tackling puzzles and engaging in combat – with a variety of tools, spells, and weapons available to tackle the fearsome monsters and challenges that await our heroes.

Interestingly, the game’s puzzles and challenges scale depending on the number of players – so working together is vital in order to defeat each dungeon. Thanks to the procedural generation of the dungeons, no two runs in Rogue Heroes feel the same; though each room has hand-designed layouts, traps, puzzles, and enemies, they all appear in randomised configurations – making every run feel fresh and different.

Another intriguing feature allows players to spend their loot on new buildings for their home village – allowing access to new upgrades for player characters.

What is included in the physical edition?

The physical release will contain all of the current content available for Rogue Heroes, including the recent Druids & Dungeons Update (on the cart itself), a full-colour manual, interior artwork, an exclusive sticker, and even trading cards. The press release from Super Rare Games also promises that fans won’t be waiting long to receive their game; it’ll ship shortly after release.

When will the physical edition be available to order?

If this sounds like it’ll be up your street, be aware that only 4,000 total copies of the physical edition will ever be printed by Super Rare Games. These go on sale on May 19th at 6pm BST (10am PDT/1pm EDT) – and will be available worldwide exclusively at superraregames.com.
