The Switch plays host to some of the greatest Anime adventures this side of Hisui too, with stellar storylines and graphics that look just as good as your favourite Netflix series…
… though a heck of a lot more interactive.

1. Attack on Titan 2 (2018)
Attack on Titan 2 is officially the best Anime game for Switch!
Yes folks, this Anime epic adventure will seriously take some beating. It’s the impossibly-hard-to-put-down sequel to Attack on Titan (go figure) and a chance to save the world from Titan-destruction once more.
Honestly, if you live for films like Pacific Rim and titles like the best Godzilla games, then you’ll love going up against some of the toughest and largest enemies you’ve ever seen.
Fly through the sky, chop down brutal giants, and race against time to save humanity.
No pressure then…
The post-apocalyptic scenery makes for an eerie vibe that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the graphics will have you hooked in seconds.
Yes, Attack on Titan 2 is the best anime game on Switch, and we have loved playing every second of it!
2. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (2020)
Ever wanted to step wholeheartedly into Goku’s world? You need Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot in your life.
Live and breathe Goku’s life as you do everything from fighting and fishing to training and beating-down enemies.
It looks and feels like stepping into the TV show and taking control of the programming, and man is it intense!
Collect Z orbs as you move through the show world, taking control of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and more.
With multiple sagas to delve into and tonnes of DLC to explore through, this open-world adventure is an Anime epic from start to finish. It’s sharp, exciting, tense, mysterious, and just as confusing for people who don’t know what DragonBall Z is as the series itself!
3. Astral Chain (2019)
Astral Chain takes the bronze medal in our list of the best Anime games for Switch!
Any game where players take charge of special forces is alright in my book. Especially when those special forces are fighting against aliens trying to take over your planet.
Once a dimension gate opens, all hell literally breaks loose. The police have no idea what’s going on, so its up to you and your uber-elite team to save the day.
Imagine if Jet force Gemini was made today, that’s the general vibe of this game, with both a playable male and female character in an epic futuristic adventure.
Teamwork makes the dreamwork, as does working alongside your twin and the wider legion to take down alien scum.
Oh yeah, did I mention you can ride around on a robot wolf? Jealous much, Midna?
4. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age S Definitive Edition (2019)
Get ready for the longest game title in this article – it’s time for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age S Definitive Edition!
Keen readers may have seen this title in out list of the best Dragon Quest games of all time. It’s a stunning example of one of the greatest franchises of all time.
And dare I say it, one of the best looking RPGs on not just the Switch, but any console going.
See, this is what Legends: Arceus could have looked like!
With D.Q XI, players are treated to incredible scenes, epic storylines, and gameplay that is second to none. It’s rare to get a game that has all three of those things in one, but boy does it deliver.
I don’t want D.Q fans that haven’t played the game to worry; this is still a bona fide Dragon Quest title at its core.
It still boasts all of the RPG elements that made the original titles great, along with new elements that just wouldn’t have been possible back in the day.
That’s the best of both worlds; subtle changes that compliment a winning formula.
You’ll come for the graphics and stay for the gameplay and riding around on mythical creatures. For me, this game still fills the void between BOTW games.
5. My Hero One’s Justice (2018)
My Hero One’s Justice takes the 5th spot in our best Anime games for Switch article.
What you see is what you get with this epic beat-down titles, characters from the Anime series squaring off against each other in Street Fighter-esque battles.
Unlike the SF games of old, My Hero One’s Justice has luscious 3D arenas where players can pick both protagonists and antagonists from the series.
Plus, true to form, all the supernatural abilities and feats that you would expect from the characters can be pulled out in battle.
And having the ability to play as both a Hero or a Villain in the main story mode and online tournaments really adds an extra layer of awesomeness.
Bad guys always finish first… right?
6. Valkyria Chronicles 4 (2018)
If you’ve played the first three games in the series, then Valkyria Chronicles 4 won’t seem incredibly different. Still, familiarity isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially with a game that looks this good.
Number 4 in the canon sees a return back to what made this game so special in the first place – skirmishes. It’s one of the finest examples of turn-based anime titles going.
Imagine the tactical goings on of Advance Wars with sprawling maps and six different troop styles… incredible, right?
Yes, you read that right. This game has an extra troop style for players to use. The Grenadier joins the ranks, adding mortar fire into the mix for even more explosive action.
Storywise, VC4 takes place in an alternative version of WW2. It’s a stylised borrowing of our history that works really well, even if certain elements of the storyline are a little too ‘cut and dry’ for my liking.
There’s no real character story arc to get invested in, just fight and win war. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun beyond belief, but if there was a little more depth to it, VC4 would have ranked a lot lower down this list.
7. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (2019)
Fire Emblem: Three Houses is an absolute cracking title on the Switch. We’re talking a real corker, a game where players teach students to fight and harness epic abilities.
Imagine if Gandalf and Aragorn took over the curriculum at Hogwarts, and you’ll get the general idea.
If you’ve loved Fire Emblem since the best Gameboy Advance games days, then this title will feel like the biggest upgrade of all time. Three Houses just works like a dream; you’ll be so proud of your students once they prove victorious in a battle.
It’s more about teaching than partaking in skirmish after skirmish, but there are tonnes of secrets to uncover as you move through the game.
Oh, and a character that only you can see who helps you… totally should have mentioned that bit already.
8. Persona 5 Strikers (2020)
Persona 5 Strikers takes the 8th spot in this list of the best Anime games for Switch!
If you’ve played Persona 5, then Strikers is set 6-months after the events of that game. More mysterious happenings are blowing up all across Japan.
Take Joker and the rest of the Phantom Thieves back out onto the streets… which could be the coolest sentence I’ve ever written!
Instead of fighting using weapons, players use Persona’s, a kind of kick-ass Patronus that Joker can summon up.
Plus, theres, even something called a Velvet Room which you can use to make new Personas by fusing them together Mrs Coulter Northern Lights-style.
In terms of gameplay, Strikers has both real-time and turn based combat, providing the ultimate experience for RPG and Anime fans.

9. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (2015)
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is up next, a game that draws in the older Digimon crowd that have been with the series since it started in 1999.
We’re talking the people that still collect 90s toys like their lives depend on it… aka us.
And the best bit about this Complete Edition on the Switch is that it combines both titles, Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory into one!
That’s 540 extra Digimon added into the mix!
Both games have incredible storylines to sink your teeth into. Plus I know it’s not the PS4, but the graphics look unbelievably incredible on the Switch.
And there’s no annoyingly awkward interactions with NPCs that have never appeared in the franchise before. It’s a bona fide old-skool Digimon classic and a Bandai title done right!
10. Pokemon Legends: Arceus (2022)
Pokemon Legends: Arceus takes the 10th spot in this list of the best anime games for Switch.
Yes, I know it’s new and shiny and an open world experience, but in my humble opinion, it’s fallen short of other anime games on the switch…
… hear me out.
Look at games like Dragon Quest and Astral Chain. The maps don’t pop into existence as you move through them, grass and mountains suddenly forming as you run from destination to destination.
Plus, the game feels a little janky with regards to not being able to move between places organically and having to rely on warping.
Don’t get me wrong though; I do love this game for what it is, and that’s a good Pokemon adventure. If Niantic had focused on the environment as much as they focused on the the Pokemon in it, we could have had an absolute game changer on our hands.
Travel into the Hisui region, crafting Poke Balls from scratch and documenting your findings in a good old fashioned Pokedex made of paper.
The open world areas are amazing and catching Pokemon with balls in real-time feels so realistic. It’s just a shame about that poor-man’s Breath of the Wild feel that overshadows it…
