When the Retro Dodo community comes out to vote for something they're passionate about, they come out in full force. If you've been keeping tabs on our Facebook page over the past couple of weeks, then you'll know all about our Ultimate Retro Console Championship. We've been hosting a tournament to pick the best retro console of all time, the machine that means the most to our readers, and the one that was the most influential in the gaming world over the years.
16 consoles entered the fray from the Golden Age of Gaming all the way up to the 2000s. We picked 16 of the most influential consoles we've ever played, 16 greats going head to head in an ultimate battle, with the winner being decided by you.
And after multiple rounds, the final came down to the N64 vs the PS2. For some of you, it was the toughest decision of your lives, while for others, it was an obvious choice that took no thinking about. And in the end, after 52,000 of you had spoken, the PS2 was crowned the champion.
Yes, the PS2 beat the NES, the PS1, and the SNES as well as the N64 to become the winner of our tournament. So, not only is it the best-selling console of all time, but it's also the best console of all time as voted by the Retro Dodo readers! That's a much better accolade that Sony should be shouting about, in my opinion.
