This news excites me. If you've been a long-time reader of Retro Dodo, you'll know that I am a big fan of the TRIMUI Brick Hammer; it's one of my favourite metal retro handhelds of 2025.

So when TRIMUI put out an official blog post teasing the "Brick Pro", I had guessed that it would have gone down the analogue stick route, as many members of the community have been asking for it.

The only image TRIMUI has shared is this GIF. Showing the Brick Pro hidden in darkness, yet LED lights outline the new dual sticks towards the chin of the device.

It's bigger than the original Brick, and it needs to be because two sticks would be hella uncomfortable on a small device like this. TRIMUI have also stated that the Brick Pro will feature a larger 4" display (in comparison to the original Brick's 3.2" display).

"The upgraded 4-inch high-definition display offers vibrant colors and razor-sharp contrast. It strikes the perfect balance—large enough to capture every pixelated detail, yet compact enough to remain truly pocketable"

- TRIMUI Team

It also keeps the signature LED start/select buttons, which gives it the iconic look, and likely replaceable and customisable shoulder buttons like the original too.

TRIMUI stated that these are "precision dual joysticks" and are calibrated for zero-dead zones. This will allow gamers to "break free from the limitations of D-PADS".

To give you a better understanding, an image has leaked showcasing what could be our first look at the TRIMUI Brick Pro shared by RetroDeadFred on X.

Sticking to the iconic all-black look, you can see two joysticks with concave rubber tops and LED backlights. The bigger screen and larger shell certainly make it look like other devices on the market, but TRIMUI always excels in build quality and easy UX.

They've created a community of retro gamers that enjoy their products, and I can imagine something like this would sell well within their community, but is it too late to compete with other vertical handhelds on the market in the sub $150 range?

Only time will tell. We'll make sure to share the news when official specifications, pricing and release dates are announced. Join our free newsletter to not miss out.
