The TRIMUI Smart Pro was a very popular retro handheld when it was released two years ago in November 2023.
It was visually pleasing, minimal, thin and featured a 16:9, 4.92" 720 display. It was something that looked different in a time when every other handheld looked bleak.
Since then, TRIMUI has released a couple of devices, such as the TRIMUI Brick and the Brick Hammer, its metal variant.
MechDIY, has informed us that TRIMUI are working on the "S" version of the SmartPro and it will be announced and open for pre-orders in Early November.
What's New?
Visually, it's very similar, which isn't a bad thing as it's a beautiful-looking device which is loved in the retro handheld space, unlike the Retroid Pocket 6 disaster...
- Enhanced Processor: The new chip delivers smoother gameplay, especially for demanding emulators like PSP, PS1, and Dreamcast.
- Built-in Cooling Fan: A newly added rear cooling fan helps maintain steady temperatures during extended play sessions.
- Refined Design: Keeps the familiar and comfortable Smart Pro layout, while improving heat dissipation and overall feel.
- Better Compatibility: Optimised for both Android-based apps and a wide range of classic emulators — from GBA to PSP.

We'll be getting improvements to performance, cooling, battery life and emulator compatibility. I like that they haven't announced possible Gamecube or PS2 emulation. They're being honest and don't want to get your hopes up.
One other major feature is the fact that it has been "optimised for Android-based apps". Does this mean it will run on Android? This will allow gamers to take advantage of the 16:9 display to pair with Android games and cloud streaming, should they require it.
This may upset some users as TRIMUI's custom Linux front-ends are some of the best in the business.
MechDIY has confirmed that this is shipping in November, as they have stock on the way. It's an exciting time for TRIMUI fans, and hopefully this will live up to the hype!
At this moment in time, that is the only information we have, but we will share more once we have official specifications and pricing.
