Sonic The Hedgehog fans will be happy to read that an official mini arcade cabinet is becoming a reality thanks to SEGA teaming up with MyArcade at this years CES.

This news comes shortly after the announcement of MyArcade’s and ATARI’s GameStation collaboration which was also revealed at CES this year. It seems MyArcade are on a roll this year, and I am all for it!

MyArcade has teased images showcasing not only one, but two Sonic The Hedgehog mini arcade cabinets alongside images of a Golden Axe and Shinobi mini arcade cabinet. According to their X account there will also be Outrun and Streets of Rage mini cabinets to add to their portfolio.

MyArcade are releasing two unique variants of the original Sonic The Hedgehog video game. One cabinet will come with a more traditional arcade cabinet design, with a small joystick, and 3 action buttons next to it, and then another variant with a larger joystick that can fit your whole hand with a single jump button.

The same is similar for the Shinobi and Golden Axe versions, although only one of each has been officially revealed as of now and the Shinobi version with the larger joysticks features 3 buttons instead of one.

Outrun fans will be happy to see that the mini cabinet comes with a tiny steering wheel and controls which looks absolutely stunning in the teased image on socials. There’s now finally an affordable way to play these classic games in a unique yet organic fashion, that can be stored easily at home.

As of now there is no more information regarding if these are arcade ROM or Sega Mega Drive/Genesis versions of the games, nor do we know if these arcade cabinets are pre-loaded with more than one game, which MyArcade are known for doing.

If these are priced reasonably and in-line with their $40 Micro Players then I believe these will be incredibly popular. MyArcade aren’t known for superb build quality unlike Quarter Arcades, but that’s because they’re targetting a different demographic who want affordable arcade goodness.

We will be keeping a close eye on MyArcade over the next week as they slowly but surely release more images and videos about their upcoming products. Hopefully we’ll be able to get these units into review when they launch likely (but no confirmed) later in the year.
