Handhelds are only getting more and more expensive as the years go by, not only because every manufacturer is trying to cram them full of specs and features in the hope that you upgrade from the one you bought last year, but also because of the increase in RAM prices.
As of today, Retroid has announced an unfortunate $15 increase in the Retroid Pocket 6, effective March 2nd, which will raise the device's price from $229 to $244.
This is "due to significant changes in the global memory market, including ongoing shortages and sharply rising costs for both RAM and storage".

To add to the pain, Retroid will no longer be selling the 12GB version, so only the 8GB version will be available to purchase from tomorrow onwards.
Those who have recently ordered the 12GB version and are waiting for it to be delivered will not be affected.
It's sad to see, but I guess it's not Retroid's fault; it's simply due to the fact that the boom in AI is causing an increased demand for RAM and storage, which pushes the prices up significantly.
Undoubtedly, the 8GB version is still a great handheld, and we will not be altering our review or our opinions because of this.
Retroid are not the first company in the handheld space to do this; others have done it in the past and most recently, AYN have pumped up the price of the Thor dual-screen handheld.
