Mini retro handhelds are all the craze recently, and Powkiddy wants to let everyone know that they’re cooking something up, and it’s called the V10.
The Powkiddy V10 will feature a Quad-Core Cortex-A35 1.5GHZ CPU, a Mali-G31 GPU and 1GB’s of RAM. I know right, you thought the RKK3326 chip was dead, oh no. Powkiddy is jumping back on that band-wagon and wants you to add yet another one of these chips to your collection.
The device itself kinda look like the old Pokemon Mini handhelds with the cute colours. This will feature a 3.5″ IPS display with a resolution of 480×320, making it great for 4:3 retro games. Powkiddy promote that it works great with Game Boy Advance games at 2x resolution because of this.
With that screen and those specs it’s likely going to be a semi-affordable device, hopefully priced between $50 – $70, although Powkiddy has not officially stated the retail price as of yet.
PS1, Nintendo 64 and Game Boy games should be possible on here if the specifications are anything to go by, so it’s certainly not going to be a “serious” handheld, but nonetheless a great cute addition to those who want PS1 and below in a small 3.5″ form factor.
It should last up to 6 hours using its built-in 3,000MAH battery and can be charged using the USB-C port at the bottom.
The shoulder buttons look like they’re a little better than typical Powkiddy products, and actually curver around the sides of the device just on top of the abttery pack. They’re not stacked which is unfortunate but they still look better than most in this category, only time will tell.
It’s good to see Powkiddy back in the market testing smaller devices, they had a run with large 5″+ screens which were… interesting to say the least and one or two were great, but they seem to skip corners on their smaller devices.
We will get this one into review and hope that Powkiddy has upped their game because let’s face it… we all love mini retro handhelds, right?
Powkiddy has stated: “this will be sold at an affordable price soon”.
