As part of today’s totally wild Nintendo Direct, we got the announcement of a brand new Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 incoming to the Switch.
As if we needed more gaming content to add to our ever-growing backlog, Nintendo absolutely swamped us with exciting new stuff today.
And as you will soon see, this new collection comes with an awesome amount of Metal Gear content.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1
Surprisingly, we do not have a “Best Metal Gear” list here on Retro Dodo, but surely it is incoming now that Nintendo has reminded us of that.
And when that list is eventually compiled, you will surely find quite a lot of the following games on there.
We’ve had Metal Gear collections in the past (2011 and 2013), but surely fans of the long series would love to have these incredible games all on the Nintendo Switch.
The new Master Collection features the first three Playstation classics Metal Gear Solid (PS1), Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2), and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2). All must-play entries on the Playstation, now available for our Switch.
Vol. 1 will also include the original PC and NES titles that set the stage for what would become the most exciting stealth mechanic franchise out there.
Those original titles are Metal Gear (PC), Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (PC), Metal Gear (NES) and Snake’s Revenge (NES).

As if having seven full Metal Gear games was not enough in one collection, this compilation includes so much more.
Master Collection Vol. 1 also includes the incredible Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 digital graphic novels.
Additional digital content in this collection includes screenplay books, strategy guides for each game, as well as full soundtracks.
As you can surely tell, this collection is jam packed with a ton of awesome content.
Conclusions
It is wild to think that we will be able to play seven classic Metal Gear games on the Nintendo Switch at home or on the go.
Nintendo has clarified that the first three titles will all be available to purchase individually as well if one in particular strikes your interest.
