Mangmi are known for launching a $99 handheld out of nowhere that competed with some of the best retro handhelds on the market that were priced over $150.

The Air X, impressed us deerly, so much so that we were excited to hear that Mangmi are launching a new, larger, more powerful device for those who want to sacrifice portability for performance.

It's called the Pocket Max handheld, and today that have officially revealed the specifications of this mighty device.

It's using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, similar to the Retroid Pocket 5. Alongside an Adreno 650 GPU, 8GBs of RAM, a large 7" AMOLED 1080P display that runs at 144hz, 8000MAH battery and runs on Android 13.

These specifications aren't new in the space, if anything, a coulpe years old, but it's likely Mangmi will price this competitively, and they've even added some funky "modular magnetic buttons".

This allows customers to switch out the DPAD and action buttons with different styles, responsiveness and more. They're even going so far as stating it's "the first Android handheld with modular magnetic buttons".

It's certainly cool to see Mangmi innovate in the space, and I am all for magnetic buttons if they work well and last a long time.

Mangmi are also experimenting with which coloured buttons pair with the white and black shells. It seems like they made the decision to add orange action buttons on the white colour-way, and keep white buttons on the black colour-way.

I have a funny feeling Mangmi will soon officially reveal pricing and the crowdfunding page over the next few weeks, which will make this a mid-2026 handheld, competiting with many others already on the scenes such as the KONKR Pocket Fit.
