Well, it’s about time! After LEGO’s collaborations with Nintendo being a huge success over the last few years their next console that will be transformed into LEGO pieces is one of the best consoles of all time, the GAME BOY.
It was revealed across LEGO’s social channels with a video that teases some of the parts, including bricks, buttons and a release date which as of now is October 2025… just in time for my birthday, thank you LEGO.
I have purchased fake LEGO Game Boy‘s in the past, and even showcased some of Baron Vunbrunk‘s fan creations many years ago on our YouTube channel, so it’s safe to say I have been waiting for this set for a long time, so it excites me that it’s finally coming to fruition.

The video as you can see doesn’t show much, but it does let us know that it’s trying to emulate the original console as much as possible. The DPAD showcases what the size could be (taking in consideration the size of the LEGO dots), which will be very close to the original console size.
So, this makes me believe it could be a cheaper set when compared to the NES for example, as its certainly not going to need a lot of pieces. However, there is a possibility that LEGO will create interactive parts for this device, and maybe even in collaboration with TETRIS like the good old days?
I expect the cartridge slot to work, again, just like the NES set did, so building a miniature cartridge with TETRIS branding, alongside the ability to insert it and sliding the hopefully clicky on/off switch that may activate a light brick is where my thoughts are at.
Perhaps it will even feature some kind of TETRIS mini-bricks on the screen? This fake LEGO Game Boy that I have owned for some time also features removable AA batteries, which could be a thing in this upcoming set, to add to the piece count.
I am seriously hoping LEGO and Nintendo do something unique with this set, and that it is priced competitively. Add in a link cable, or a Game Boy cartridge box that’s also buildable.
Only time will tell and hopefully this means that LEGO will also open up the chances to create a LEGO Game Boy Advance in the future!
