When people previously asked me what my most used app was on my phone, It would have always been Instagram. Now, thanks to my never-ending need to catch ’em all instilled into my DNA while living through the 90s, it’s Pokémon TCG Pocket. I’ve been waiting patiently for the new full release to come after the Mythical Island set, and now The Pokémon Company has announced the new Space-Time Smackdown booster packs based on Pokémon from the Sinnoh region, with Dialga EX and Palkia EX leading the charge.
It makes sense to have two heavyweight legendaries heading up the new booster packs, and although I was hoping to see Ho-Oh and Lugia up there with more Johto-based critters jumping out of foil packs, I’m more than happy to dive into collecting the new Pokémon that featured in the fourth-generation of the series that I first encountered on the DS through Pokémon Diamond & Pearl.

While the teaser trailer on X was dominated by Dialga and Palkia in what looked like a WWE Title Match announcement, I spotted some other famous faces like the three Diamond/Pearl starters; Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig. Leafeon & Honchkrow made an appearance alongside Pachirisu EX and a new Cynthia Trainer card (pictured below).
The new set arrives in seven days – that gives you a week to stock up on your hourglasses and get ready for the new booster packs. Don’t forget that you won’t be able to use your pack points gained from the Genetic Apex or Mythical Island sets to get Pokémon from the Space-Time Smackdown set, so you’ll need a lot of patience, hard graft, and Poké Gold to get the ‘mon you want the most. I expect that we’ll see new missions arriving on Friday too, and thanks to the announcement video we also know that the long-awaited Trading Feature that we’ve all been getting our hopes up for is arriving on January 28th!
