It's been a long time coming, and if many of you watched our video about dual-screen Android handhelds, you'll know that we mentioned our frustration with Azahard.
Mainly because it required gamers to take their .3DS ROM files and decrypt every single one into a new folder and then rename the extension to .cci so that Azahar could recognise it.
Azahar's reason behind this was to "to distance ourselves from the mass piracy that lead to the closure of Yuzu and Citra".

Which is fair enough, nobody wants to see the loss of Azahar, it's a great early-stage 3DS Emulator on Android. It needs some work, but nonetheless one of the best on the market.
This change in available extensions being compatible is a great step in the right direction to make 3DS emulation easier and more open to casual gamers.
And I know this isn't what Azahar wants to hear but it could mean that they were worried that competitors would come into the scene to create easier, more simple 3DS emulators that would make Azahar a more cumbersome choice to casual gamers who find their application confusing.

Azahar shared a message that mentions why they originally made this decision and why they have now gone back on that decision, alongside the release of Azahar 2124.3 which is now available to download.
A huge applause to Azahar for making this change. I know it's easy for us to say "this change is for the better", but the Azahar team are specialists in this space and know far more than us.
Nintendo 3DS emulation just got easier, in a time where dual-screen Android handhelds are coming out left right and center.
