You may have seen leaked videos and images of ANBERNIC's upcoming 1:1 retro handheld that flips out like a 2000's mobile phone to reveal a square display and hidden action buttons.
It's the first time a handheld manufacturer has attempted building something like this in the affordable handheld emulation space, and I am surprised as much as you are that it's ANBERNIC doing the innovation this year.
I'm actually excited about it, because it's a new way to experience retro games in a portable, and hopefully affordable form factor, with a gimmick that will satisfy my fidgeting needs.
The latest leaked image shared on Chinese forums and social media is a picture that shows the back of the device in high resolution, which was impossible to view on previous compressed videos that leaked.

It obviously shows the name of the model, stating "RG Rotate", which is very fitting due to the rotating screen and is located on the back shell where ANBERNIC host all of their handhelds' mandatory tech specs.
It looks like it will house a 2000MAH battery to, which will likely get you 4+ hours of gameplay on here, depending on what you're emulating and the power consumption of this 1:1 display.
I do feel like this is a legit handheld that ANBERNIC will bring out. The videos look promising, are not AI-generated and follow ANBERNIC's usual leaks that eventually make its way into reality.
It won't cost a fortune to build, and it doesn't require much power. Although memory supply could be an issue and push this into the $99+ category, I think ANBERNIC can pull it off.
Miniature handhelds like this do well; there's lots of demand for them, especially at a time when handhelds are getting price bumps. We'll keep you updated with more information about this device, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to not miss out.
