Last week ANBERNIC teased the back of the upcoming RG Slide, which wasn't enough for most fans, but now they've announced the specs and reveal the full slide up design.
And I must say, I am impressed. It's ANBERNIC's first proper jab at doing something unique rather than copy the competition's ideas over the last couple of years.
ANBERNIC officially announced this new design on their YouTube channel with mock images and videos to give users an idea of size, specifications and colour-ways.
ANBERNIC RG Slide Specifications (So Far)
- 4.7" 4:3 LTPS "in-cell" IPS Display (1280 x 960) 120Hz & 500nits
- Ability to emulate up to PS2 and Nintendo Wii
- Android OS
- 3.5mm Headphone Jack
- Wifi & Bluetooth
What is a LTPS Display?
Put simply a LTPS in-cell display is a type of screen technology used in many modern smartphones and tablets that combines two key elements:
LTPS (Low-Temperature Polysilicon) - This is a higher-quality material used to make the transistors that control each pixel on the screen, these:
- Perform better than regular amorphous silicon transistors
- Allow for higher resolution displays
- Enable faster response times

What is "In-Cell" Touch Technology?
This refers to how the touch sensors are integrated, for example:
- Touch sensors are built directly into the display panel itself
- This is different from older designs where touch sensors were a separate layer
- Makes the display thinner and lighter

This is the first time ANBERNIC has used this type of display and on paper it sounds incredible, especially with the high refresh rate for high-end gaming and high brightness.
The video description states that PS2, Wii, Gamecube and Dreamcast (640x480) will provide a 2x pixel-to-pixel display. Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64 games (320x240) will offer a 4x pixel-to-pixel display and SMS games (256x192) offers 5x.
What's cool is that it can also play games vertically should you have any arcade games or apps that use touch.
I am excited to review this device, it's one of the first "sliding" handheld emulators from China and I believe it will start a unique trend in the space that could lead to someone pulling the trigger on a dual screen retro handheld, but only time will tell.
