I was beginning to think that something horrible had happened to ANBERNIC, seeing as there's not been a handheld release in a while, but thankfully, here we are with a new one.
This is called the RG476H, and it seems ANBERNIC has done a big overhaul when it comes to product design, which I am welcoming as this looks very sleek and follows the popular front glass panel that the likes of GoRetroid and AYANEO started.
This does mean all of these handhelds are going to look somewhat similar, but that's the price we have to pay. Perhaps these are all coming out of the same factory, and there's a bulk deal, who knows.
Even the announced AYN Odin 3 looks nearly identical to the Retroid Pocket 5... It's certainly going to confuse newcomers to the scene.
ANBERNIC has officially revealed this device on their YouTube channel, with a short tease showcasing the new look, a few colourways and a look at the ports.
The name would suggest this has a 4.7" screen too, likely the one used in their recent RG477M device. I would also bet my money on it being an Android-based handheld, which opens up opportunities for Android games and cloud streaming, even if it means using ANBERNIC's terrible custom front-end.

The new design, matched with the glass front, LED hall joysticks, stacked shoulder buttons and large display, will certainly intrigue fans of GoRetroid. This, to me, looks like a Retroid Pocket 2S, modernised and likely featuring far more power.
No specifications have been revealed, nor pricing or release dates, but I am hoping that this will have similar power to the RG477M, allowing PS2 emulation up to 3x native resolution. That would certainly please a lot of retro handheld fans.
It looks to have USB-C charging, a headphone jack, internal cooling, and comes in three colour variants, black, purple and grey, all taking inspiration from classic consoles like the Gamecube, GAME BOY DMG and PSP.
As of now, this video is all we have to go by, but we'll keep you updated via our newsletter when more information is announced. Which I can imagine will be over the next few weeks.
