All Upcoming Pokémon Games (That We Know Of)

upcoming pokemon games

Are you curious about upcoming Pokémon games? Us too! That’s why we want to create this (regularly updated) list of any new games that have been officially released.

It should come as absolutely no surprise that we are giant Pokémon fans here at Retro Dodo.

We have made it our personal and professional duty to keep an eye on all things Pokémon, especially any new exciting games on the horizon.

So for the good of the community… here is the list of all upcoming Pokémon games (that we know of):

Pokémon Legends: Z – A

Release Date: 2025

Pokemon Legends: Z-A was revealed on the 27th February (Pokemon Day) on Nintendo’s Pokemon Presents livestream.

This mainline game is the second addition to the Legends” series and focuses on Lumiose City from the Kalos Region. Rumours even state that the entire game is based exclusively in the city, much like Grand Theft Auto or Cyberpunk.

This may disappoint Pokemon X and Y fans but I am confident it may surprise you. Legends Arceus was effectively a “smaller” game compared to typical mainline Pokemon games and it was executed well in my opinion, so it will be interesting to see how Game Freak handles this one.

We’ll likely see a handful of new Pokemon, Mega-Evolutions and unique locations to explore.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket

Release Date: 2024

There’s a new way to collect Pokemon cards, this time digitally in Nintendo’s new Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket application.

This application or game… however you’d like to call it allows collectors to open virtual packs, collect cards, trade cards with friends, and even battle in a unique, faster paced version of the original card game.

Not only that, there’s new ways to enjoy the artwork of these cards, allowing you to literally dive into the artwork to see what’s behind the borders.

This is Pokemon’s way of attempting to create a digital collection that’s more affordable according to Card Gamer.

I think it will go down well with avid Pokemon TCG enthusiasts, but personally there’s nothing quite like collecting the physical cards.
