Abxylute has been working on a retro-inspired Magsafe controller for some time, we first heard about it in August.

However, things seem to be moving forward. They've got in touch with us to ask if we'd like to review a sample over the coming weeks, and their Kickstarter pre-launch page is live, so you can register your interest.

The Kickstarter officially launches on November 11th 2025.

The controller itself looks very minimal, a square-ish form factor to fit on the back of an iPhone naturally when not in use, but to also fit the phone's aesthetics when in gaming mode.

They've recently revealed a new colour-way and a promotional video too. This colour-way takes inspiration from the Orange GameCube, going so far as adding a yellow analogue stick and red + green action buttons.

The MagSafe adapter and the wireless controller are technically separate, but can be connected together to create a comfortable way to emulate games and use gaming applications horizontally by twisting them into place.

It features two analogue sticks, a DPAD, four action buttons, four shoulder buttons, menu buttons, volume buttons, and an on/off switch to connect it via Bluetooth.

I think many retro gamers will enjoy this; it's a step up from BitmoLab's GAMEBABY, which we reviewed a while back. Admittedly, it adds more bul,k but hopefully that means better ergonomics and longer gaming times.

I hope abxylute can pull this off and has taken extra care with button quality, because that's what it comes down to at the end of the day. Gamers want a comfortable snap-on controller with remarkable button quality that will last a lifetime.

My only concern from watching the video is how the aluminium magsafe connects to the controller using just a plastic peg. But hopefully we can see how that performs when we receive a review sample in November.

But so far, I am really liking the Orange colourway and the choice of controls to be used on iPhone emulators! Subscribe to our YouTube channel to watch our upcoming video review.
