Today during AYANEO’s livestream they revealed new information regarding their Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro handhelds, alongside the launch of their INDIEGOGO campaign which reveals the release date and new limited edition variants.
They also showcased some call new trailers too which are featured in the crowdfunding campaign.
AYANEO Pocket DMG Pricing & Release Date
Starting with the AYANEO Pocket DMG, pricing starts at a early bird price of £265 GBP/$339 USD/ $2,661 HKD for the base 8GB+126GB mode, but RRP after the crowdfunding campaign will be £352 GBP/$449 USD/ $3,500 HKD, so there’s a considerable discount for those grabbing it early.
The 12GB+256GBP model starts at £328 GBP/$419 USD/$3,289 HKD for early birds, the 16GB+512GB model (their largest model) starts at £391/$499 USD/$3,917 HKD for early birds.
Once the limited early bird units are sold out (typically 400 – 200 of each) there will be a new IndieGoGo price that is slightly more expensive, but less than RRP after the campaign ends. The images below should clear that up for you.
AYANEO also teased a limited edition version of the Pocket DMG, featuring colours from the original Game Boy, this is their most expensive variant with an early bird price of $589 with only 200 units available, once sold out it will have a price of $669 for backers and finally $699 once the campaign has ended.
The AYANEO Pocket DMG has an estimated shipping date of October 2024.
AYANEO Pocket Micro Pricing & Release Date
The AYANEO Pocket Micro will have an early bird price of £148 GBP/ $190 USD/ $1,484 HKD for the base model, but the RRP after the crowdfunding campaign will be £171 GBP/ $219 USD/ $1,716 HKD. Not as much as a difference but enough for those that have been waiting for this device, to pre-order it early.
I was also surprised at how cheap this is, seeing as it has a glass display and made of an alloy frame, this is going to be an incredibly premium device for under $200.
There is also only two types to chose from, either 6GB+128GB or 8GB+256GB, the more powerful starting at £171 GBP/ $219 USD/ $1,719 HKD, and finalising on £170 GBP/ $249 USD/ $1700 HKD after the campaign ends.
AYANEO CEO Arthur Zhang did inform viewers of the livestream that they had to remove the gold and red variant Pocket Micro from their line of products. He didn’t mention why, but it could be that it was too closely resembling the original Nintendo Game Boy Micro’s limited edition design, but who knows.
The AYANEO Pocket Micro begins shipping in September 2024 (for those that back them on Indiegogo).
