I would consider myself a bit of a Tetris snob, and I’ve play-tested quite a few ports in my day. And I have to give credit where credit is due; the recent release of Apotris by Akouzoukos is one of the best Tetris ports I’ve ever played.

So what makes a Tetris port different or better? For me, it’s all about the feel. Every Tetris port plays very different.

I found my love for Tetris by playing the original black and white Game Boy version. And I eventually gravitated to Tetris DX because it feels a little smoother and the additional features add to the experience.

What makes Apotris special is it does a little bit of everything, while also giving us a ton of options to manage which features we actually want.

So whether you like your Tetris a bit wild and visually stimulating or ultra simple and straight forward… Apotris can do it.

And it plays incredibly smooth, which is probably the most important thing.

Apotris is an every-man’s Tetris, packed with a ton of customizations and game modes.

Eleven game modes, in fact. Including more traditional Tetris experiences, as well some unique modes like “Survival” and “Dig” which throw garbage lines at you to try to mess up your flow.

What I love most about Apotris is how detailed you can get in your customization. You can manage pretty much everything you see on screen.

We have also never had a proper Tetris port for the Game Boy Advance. Not one worth mentioning anyways.

So to have a nearly perfect version to now play on your Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Advance SP is long overdue.

How To Get Apotris

Apotris by Akouzoukos

You can purchase physical cartridges of Apotris through the InsideGadgets website here. It is even available with a built in rumble feature.

Akouzoukos is offering the digital version 100% free! So there’s no reason not to give it a try and see how incredible it really is.

If you like the game, consider sending them a couple dollars for their efforts. You don’t know how awesome it is to see a $5 donation come in as an independent developer.
